      Violence and Self-Mutilation in Dreams?

I've been recently having a few dreams that involved self mutilation of violence of sorts. Specifically, I would gouge my eyes out. It's not painful or anything, but in the dream it is more like an expression of pain than anything else. Does anyone else have something similar or am I just being nutty?

I had it a couple times where I would rip out my eyes. I don't really know what it means exactly, never thought about it much since it wasn't very disturbing to me.

I often find myself harming myself in dreams, as I do in boredom in real life. In dreams, I normally end up tearing out my own eyes, and somehow still bite off my fingers. I feel pain, but not nearly as much as I should be. If you feel pain or strain in a dream, it normally means you can do whatever you are currently doing. For example, I was climbing in a dream, and I felt strain on my arms. I never knew I could climb, but I tried, and I felt the same feeling from my dreams in the real world. But the self mutilation may be caused by something as negative thoughts, or a downright lack of self respect.

Why do all scary movies have to be in creepy places, like hospitals and jails?

There is a world shaking myth of human origin that involves the hero, get that?, the hero or heroine tearing out his, or possibly her eyes.

It is the Greek myth of Oedipus. Oedipus does so for complex reasons which I would be willing to explore with you should this be an interesting idea to you.

But predominantly, in my opinion, it is becasue he sees things that cannot be tolerated in "polite society," or really any kind of public society.

If your dream was my dream and I was mutilating myself in the fashion you describe, and I really must add you should stop this, I would want to know what it was I have seen, SEEN, that is so unbearable I cannot tolerate it.

I would want to bring that intolerable material to the surface and share it with those -- like me -- willing to tolerate it.

I hope you will consider doing so.
