      Subconscious surfacing before sleep

This is a very interesting topic for me. Before I'm drifting off to sleep (specifically - the last 10 minutes or so before I'm sleeping) there is a point where my subconscious takes over. I love to observe what happens at this point because usually it is random conversations happening that I am completely unaware of. This is not schizophrenia (as my mother suggested lol) but clearly the point where my subconscious is starting to take over.

I would love to know more about the science behind this i.e. how can i be aware of this when it's out of my control? (the subject material - extremely random kind of like sleep talking - so I am going to start writing it down if possible, I sometimes come back into awareness and I laugh to myself at how random it is)

Please assure me this happens to other people as well haha

I can't observe my subconcious acts since I don't even know when do they start, I only realize it happened after a while and it ends. What happens to me is that I relax and start to think about random things, and eventually I find myself thinking of nonsense things, conversations or even phrases that don't make sense or words that don't even exist. Usually I can't remember them or forget about them after a few seconds.

I don't know the science behind this but found similarities while doing salvia, when I realized twice that I was repeating over and over a word in a nonexistent language, but also forgot about it.

I like destruction and reality, and one invariably leads to the other.

'Dreams are real while they last. Can we say more of life?'
'We die to remember what we live to forget'

Thanks Astaroth. Yeah it usually turns to nonsense in my head but if I can observe it it often makes me laugh, like where are these thought coming from? Kind of like any dream. And the answer is me lol

Connecting with our subconscoius or even with our colective subconscoius in this way we can access a lot of information or answers to our questions. Even though most are just random thoughts or ideas, some of them are really deep reflections about life, universe, (I vaguely remember that once I was reflecting on some mathematical theories that explained the structure of the universe) etc. I even got some answers to some of my problems from these episodes. The problem is that the moment you are aware of them, they disappear and with it the memory of them. I get to remember bits and pieces and most of the time nothing, which is really frustrating.

A friend once told me to hold a spoon in my hand and when I nearly fall asleep I will supposedly drop it because the muscles relax; the noise will bring me into awareness and in this way I can remember what was going on. I never tried it because I sleep with my boyfriend .

Besides this one I really don't know any other technique that can make us more aware or more able to remember.

Honestly I'm able to observe and remember the random thoughts/conversations that happen, but they never were anything worth actually listening to. One that I remember very clearly was reflecting on how much toothpaste I use, it was just such a weird thing to start thinking about.

I think one of the benefits is the things that I listen to I wouldn't usually think about otherwise.

My technique for listening to it and staying conscious of the thought is just to relax and be very observant of everything.
