Do your dreams generally have a similar quality (not common detail) between your dreams?

Generally the dreams I have (at least the ones I remember) take place in a surreal environment. Some examples of the settings in my dreams include: a forest clearing with a huge, ancient tree covered in vines during dawn; a huge cave with a spiral stone walkway to the entrance which leads to a clear night area with many asian style bridges linked at hub sections all over a clear lake; an old European style boat on the blue ocean during noon in the middle of a flotilla with ships just like it; a Paris like city at night with many bright lights and lampposts and many cars lining the sides of the small road; and a mysterious, dark, mall-like building with vending machines, sleek dark-brown walls, and no stores.

When I asked my friends this question, one told me their dreams usually were like they were watching a movie without direct interaction with the dream and the situation the "main characters" are in usually involved really weird situations mixed with gore in trashy environments (landfill, destroyed city). Another friend told me their dreams usually had zombies, guns, gore, and warfare in a dystopia.

So do you guys' dreams have a generally common quality (not including details like a person or object appearing in many dreams) between them and if so, what do your dreams usually share?

Yea many dreams of mine also have that third person camera view... and quite a few of my dreams are me in some sort of physical struggle with someone. I'd between those two that about 50 % of my dreams. The environment that shows up the most is a suburb like enviorment... makes sense I've only ever lived in suburbs with the exception of one year.

It varies. The last few years I have a lot of persecution dreams. The setting is usually quite realistic, the enemies are not. Aliens, (monstruous) clowns, killer robots, zombies... All of those in first person.

Other dreams are movie-like (in which I am not necessarily a character), and usually horrible things happen.

And some dreams mimic lucid dreams, so I do things I would do in a lucid dream - such as flying. Interestingly I'm better at flying in non-lucids than I am in lucids. Probably because I actually believe I can do those things.
      Current projects:
      -Acquire the Aurora
      -Test galatamine, huperzine and choline
-Find smartwatch app for RC reminders at certain intervals
-Ressurect my dream log here, and become more active

Well I've never went exploring a forest before, I've never been a cave either, nor have I been on a large boat before, in fact I've never been out of the country before, and I've also only lived in the suburbs, so I'm not sure why your dreams usually take place in the suburbs. Maybe it's because I have a very active imagination or play lots of video games which make my dreams are like that.

When I don't dream about real environments, they usually take place in some kind of city or building in ruins. That's not allways negative, I actually feel curious in those places very often and like to explore/know about them. Sometimes I dream about me looking at the landscape of a destroyed modern civilization extending until the horizon, with someone older telling me about what happened. It's really epic.

That's understandable. I know a dream in the ruins of a civilization is not necessarily a negative dream. I myself would love it if a dream of mines took place in city/civilization ruins and considering the types of dreams I usually have I wouldn't be surprised if one of them ended up taking place in one. Ruins are places filled to the brim with history and mysteries and finding out those mysteries makes it much more interesting. Maybe I wouldn't like it if I experienced the disaster (zombie apocalypse, societal collapse, mass genocide, etc.), but ruins' still are a place full of adventure and there is just something magical about piecing fragments of history together to make a story. It's just the people I talked to generally had dreams which took place in them and had many negative aspects to them which makes sense since one watches many disaster films such as World War Z and the other plays many violent video games such as COD.

      Thanks! Actually it was :D
Last one, I was at the edge of the remaining civilization of a half destroyed earth. Before me, I could see a great wasteland filled with smoking craters, ruins and some soil paths, with vehicles running far away. My father was telling me about how most of the planet was covered by magma, and how the human race had to hide underearth for years to survive. Pretty short, but amazing!
