      Unknown Dream figures...

They say every person that appears in your dreams is someone you met in life, and usually dream figures look blurry. But what if you catch a glimpse of someone unknown in your dreams who appears very detailed and have never met in life before? Is there any special meaning behind it? I had this happening to me several days ago that left me somewhat puzzled, but truthfully said I don't expect it to be anything out of the ordinary, although it still remains pretty weird. Maybe anyone can explain this or has a theory behind it? I don't think my own case resembled any known archtypes, however.

That whole "every person that appears in your dreams is someone you met in life" theory is not true. If it were true, then it would also be impossible to imagine any people that we have not met in real life, because dreams come from the same imagination.

That fact that the person was not anybody you knew shows that you did not associate anybody you knew with the meaning behind the creation of that person. What that meaning was, I have no idea.

Most of the times I do not see any person that I know in my dreams

Thanks for the reply guys. I guess I was right about it not being anything special after all.

I think that's an absurd statement, whoever "they" are.

In the past week I saw a guy with a ridiculously muscular torso and arms, almost comically short legs, and very curly black hair with a full beard. I also saw another person who looked like a stereotypical circus strongman, except his mustache was carefully styled into the shape of two flexing arms, complete with clenched fists. I also met a whole bunch of orcs. I'm fairly certain no real person exists that looks like any of those people.

While I think it is possible for dreams to have meaning, I don't think they have to, so I guess it is situational and would depend specifically on your own case. I think dreams are liberated from such concepts like logic and reason that would shackle them to requiring a meaning. Dreams are above the need for a special meaning, so to speak.

Well, coming from a confirmed surrealist, I guess 'absurd' is a form of compliment?

I would modify that and say that when dreams carry meaning it's a symbolic meaning tied to emotions, and beyond any need for logic or reason.

If usually your dream figures look blurry, but you caught a glimpse of someone unknown who is very detailed, it suggests seeing yourself clearer.
So it can be a bit special and out of the ordinary.

I usually regard dream figures I don't recognize from my outside of my dreams as a symbol of what their look remind me of.
If, let say I see a very attractive man in my dreams, I put it down to an admiration for what are considered typical, and positive sides of masculinity. If I see an attractive woman.. it's about femininity.. at least it is to me.

If they are ugly, I look upon it as neglected sides that I need to correct, or me being shitty towards other people, or feeling that they are being shitty to me.

I think that dreamfigures are very symbolic and always have a meaning to them. And they are a better symbol - to me - than people I know, because if I know them, I tend to get lost in my opinion of them as a whole. And often disregard what they mean as a symbol in that specific dream
