This is probably boring to a lot of you out there, but I've had a few recurring themes in my dreams for the past few years, and one of them popped up again last night. I don't know what to make of them.

Water plays an important part in many of my dreams - usually flowing water, though sometimes the rivers are dammed and I'm headed towards a resevoir. SOmetimes, I'm looking for a particular ocean shore or beach (not one I'm familiar with, just one I am determined to locate in the dream).

You would not believe the number of dreams I've had about busses - usually looking for a particular route, or looking for the proper busstop.

The theme in my dream last night had to do with riding in a bus, but that wasn't the part that stood out in the dream for me. What was significant was the lengthly descent down a very steep hill. I get that a lot - a sense of vertigo due to a particularly steep decent while riding in (or driving) a vehicle. Every now and then, there is also the great climb, uphill for miles. And I mean dozens, if not hundreds, of miles.

I wouldn't even think twice about any of this, except that these things happen a lot - almost every week I have one of these themes in a dream. Whaddaya think?

Le Pew, I think you've identified a great dreamsign. You can use this to become lucid in your next dream. What you need to do is keep acknowledgeing this element from your dreams whenever you come across them in real life.

You're already doing this simply by writing about it here on the forum. Now if you can just train your mind to make the correlations: water=dream or hill=dream, you'll be able to become lucid! Any time you come across water or a hill, ask yourself if you are dreaming. You'll take this habit into your dreams.

Thanks for the encouragement. I actually don't have much difficulty attaining lucidity while I'm dreaming, or at least I haven't in the past. I'm just confused about the messages I'm being sent in my dreams with these recurring themes. You are right that just thinking about them more helps, though - I think I'm starting to figure out the uphill/downhill theme, for instance.

I've had episodes of extreme lucidity while dreaming in the past. That got to be a bit of a drag for me, as I felt that oftentimes I had messed up or missed out on a lesson I was supposed to be receiving in the dream, because I had consciously altered the dream and my spirit guide left me. There are times when one should just shut up and observe. My solution to this was to do just that - try not to get too involved in altering my dreams, while being aware of what was happening around me. Now, I'm having just about the opposite effect - feeling that I'm missing out on something by being too passive. I suppose the thing to do is to keep at it until I get it right and can comfortably dwell in my dreamscapes. Wish me luck, as next week, I'm going to be concentrating on dreams and dreaming.
