Ok, you'll have to excuse me because historically, I don't remember many dreams, but since I've started putting more effort into it, I'm improving. Anyway, here's what happened in my dream (and no I'm not a violent person by nature):

i don't remember the first part very clearly, only that I talked to someone and left the place the dream started in. I went to this warehouse, which was very wide and long, and had a wide open door in the middle of the short side. There were train tracks running into the door, like something you would have seen in old stock yards. Inside, along the sides of the tracks, there were loading docks that were several feet higher than the tracks. At one end of the ware house, there was a loft or raised platform, that was only accessable by a steep ladder/stairway. The platform was open on all sides, with a wooden railing. Thats where the old man that I killed was, he was sitting in a yellow-green arm chair with end tables and coffee tables around him. He was watching TV on an old TV set, like one of the ones that used to have knobs for VHF and UHF and wood grain, on four little legs. He didn't know I was there, I just walked in, climed the stairs, and came up behind him. The top of the ladder was to his right-rear, and he was close enough that standing behind him, I could see most of the way down to the first floor. The platform was not a full 10' higher than the walkway, more like 7'. When I got behind him, I realized I had a wooden rod or dowel in my hands that was about 3/4" to 1" in diameter and about 8 or 9" long. I held it in one hand and reached under the man's chin and then grasping the dowel with a hand at each end, I pulled back as hard as I could. I remember feeling like he knew I was coming to do this, and I don't remember any emotion at all, definitely not anger or hatred, just like I was doing a job. While I was strangling the man, I realized there was another person on the walkway below. I could see that it was a young woman, with long brown wavy hair. She was wearing a sweater, it was a red pull over. She was very attractive, and had dark brown eyes and an olive complection. Her lips were also red, like she was wearing lipstick, and her overall appearance seemed like something you would see in a picture from the 40s or 50s, just a very classic beauty. At first she just looked lost, like she was looking for something or someone, and she walked to the bottom of the ladder and stopped. I realized that she would be able to see me, and the old man still wasn't dead, so I tried to very quietly step back from the edge of the platform, while still keeping a hold on the old man. I remember thinking that if I let him go he would make a lot of noise and she'd hear it. I woke up just as I had the feeling that she was about to look at me, and the old man was very close to dying. After I had this dream, I couldn't get back to sleep, because it kind of disturbed me and I didn't know what it all meant.
If anyone else has ever had anything like this happen, or if you would like to try to interpret it for me, I'd be very happy to hear any advice from anyone with experience.

Sounds like a scary dream. I'm sure everyone has dreams where they kill someone for no reason. I seriously dobt that it really means anything. If I were you, I would just forget about it. I mean, dreams are weird and don't make a lot of sense most of the time. My guess is you watch too many violent shows I wouldn't think too much about it though.

True. I'm not a violent person either, I'm very calm. Just yesterday though, I had a non lucid dream where a few people were attacking me, shooting some throwing knifes at me and stuff. Well, I started fighting back. The throwing knifes that fell on the ground, I threw back at them, but it never hit them. Then at one point in the dream, I had a long knife on my hands, and for some reason, I knew I needed to kill those people... well, since I didn't want them to feel pain, I cut their heads off... yeah, I know, weird to say the least. Well, by the end of the dream, I had cut off the heads of about 5 people. There was no blood in the dream though, but it was still pretty crazy.

I guess its part of how dreams work, and how sometimes you just "know" you have to do something even though it doesn't make any sense.

Like I said, I am also still pretty new at this, and I haven't had very good dream recall at all for a very long time, so it may be that since I've started really trying, this is probably the first dream I've had that I have been able to remember. I know that I'm havng a lot of dreams because I have been concentrating on waking up after I dream, and I've been waking up a lot, I'm just too out of it to think about writing down what is in my head. But anyways, it's probably more the shock of it all, being such a new experience for me. I don't think I'll have any problem putting this behind me. Thanks for the supportive responses.
