That's an interesting article, batctac (the comment about the platypuses really pissed me off, though - I love them critters!!).

Physiologically, depriving yourself of sleep will give you longer REM periods - I guess that's just proven fact. Now, as far as recall of those dreams, that's up the the individual and how well they practice the technique of recalling itself.

Upon waking up, one has to lie still and take the time to remember where they had just been (the dream). Any distraction will make you forget what you were experiencing just seconds before. If you're disturbed or awakened by an alarm clock, that can impair your ability to recall.

Next time you try that technque of sleep deprivation, be sure you take the time to recall the dreams as soon as you wake up.

It works both ways, as i see it.

Sleep deprivation, also leads to deeper sleep, regardless of REM stage.

Harder to get Lucid, yet more stable and longer dreams?

      It sounds fun.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

Sometimes I sleep not more than 4 hours, even for many days! I hardly remember any dream and if I do the dream disappears in my mind few minutes after I wake up.
My best dreams always are in the last part of the sleep, just before getting up.

sleep deprivation gave me lots of lucids, but that was because I 'knew' I had to get up in a few hours, so it was like my body skipped the first stage of dreaming that is always hard to remember and went straight into the more vivid dreams that you have in the early morning *which are much easier to remember*

as fun as those dreams were, it was very stressful to go a few nights without sleep or dreams, so I'm much happier with a normal sleep schedule. even if it means I remember less now
