Question Ever Die in a Dream and NOT wake???

It seems that whenever you fall off a cliff, get attacked by monsters, you name it. You wake up before you would supposedly die next in the dream. And usually death dreams never show you how the person died - just takes place in a funeral home or something - nothing dramatic as to how they died...

Why is this? It seems we always wake before hand - what would happen if we didn't...? It just seems very curious... think about it....

What do you mean, "what would happen if we didn't"?

It's usually the shock of falling off a cliff or whatever that wakes us. If you can stay calm enough to not wake yourself up, I'm sure you can experience the transition from life to death in a dream. But if you're convinced that this isn't possible, then you will never personally experience it.

Have you ever done so or know what it's like? I'm very curious...

I've never experienced that transition. But I've been dead before. Or woken up. Or fallen off a cliff and didn't get hurt. Anyway, I'm sure that if you didn't wake up you would just one second be falling off a cliff and the next you would be floating away into the sky and see your body laying on the ground... for example, that is.

I've died in some non lucid dreams. I can only remember one dream that went on after death, at the top of my head. I'm not sure how old I was when I had it, but it was during the first years of elementary school, when I and anxiety problems.

I think I dreamt that I died from a panic attack... and I found myself in a bed. I was in some sort of afterlife place, in a big gray and white room, which was dimly lit, but the light seemed natural, not artificial. The room looked kinda like a hospital ward, but I was the only one there in a bed. I remember feeling sad and scared, and wanting to go back. When I looked down on myself, my skin was transparent, and I could see my bones underneath it. There were... beings around me, they were calm and friendly and dressed in white. I think they looked human, but they might have been transparent too.

Happens to me every now and then. Usually, I will become a disembodied entity and just kinda "watch" the scene. It's like an out of body experience. I will see my body and everything around it, like I'm a ghost. Then, I will usually respawn.

There are a few threads about this. Here is the last one that was started.

      Sometimes, credits start rolling. >.<

Staring down at my lifeless body.

I am finding it almost impossible to 'die' in dreams anymore, though.

I usually go into a void (either black or white, swirling) and stay there for a few moments, then wake up.

I've died a few times in my dreams. It doesn't cause me to wake up, and I usually just end up eventually coming back. In two of them, I came back as a "ghost", but I wasn't transparent, immaterial, invisible, or whatever else we might think of ghosts to be. I gradually just rejoined the story line.

Another time, I'm not sure if I was "dying" persay, but I was laying on my back and it felt as if part of my soul was rising out of my body. After a short time, it went back down and I was back in the dream. During that time, though, everything was just black and I only focused on the sensation of "duality," as I call it. It was facinating!

Well i have heard that when you dream your body kind of thinks it is real, like if you fall off a cliff your heart beat rases and when you hit the ground its because its an alarm kind of thing, but if you died in your dream then your body would just shut down and you die.
Thats what i have always thought.

I would like to know if it is true

I one time died in a dream without waking up, all that happened was that i just saw black and did'nt hear anything for the rest of the dream. That was all.

for me everything goes black for a second then i wake up.
I got shot in the back of the head last night at point blank, didn't hurt atall
Our dreams are firsthand creations, rather than residues of waking life. We have the capacity for infinite creativity.

I had a dream once that I was in a jeep going up a steep mountain side. The jeep started tumbling backwards, and I knew I was going to die. The jeep landed on the top, crushing me and the other person inside it, but when it landed, there was no chaotic noise as I thought there would be. It just went black for a moment, then I found myself standing next to where the jeep had landed, but it was not there. It was a very quiet and peaceful. I continued in the dream, climbing the mountain the jeep failed to get up, and as I got to my goal and looked down, I realised I had to stay alive because my family needed me. It was the first time I'd died in a dream.

Later, I'd had a dream that I was in a different car going up a steep road and the car started to tumble backward like the jeep did. That time, I recognized what was happening, and instead of tumbling backwards and killing me again, it turned on the rear bumper and fell, landing on the wheels facing down the hill I'd been trying to go up.

I have the same experiences as Amethyst Star. I just reenter the scene, or redo the scene. And I have dreams about death all the time. It's because I watch a lot of gory movies.

I heard it was something like that too. Your heart can only handle an x amount of stress. Once it beats way too fast and passes that point... it shuts down on you. So... be glad you haven't had a horrific death in a dream yet. Or else you'd most likely not be living ATM.

Please. If someone died because of a dream, how would anyone ever know?

It's all speculation by bored people who have nothing else to do. There's no way to prove or disprove this theory, hence it is not a valid theory to begin with.

Yes, I've died in plenty of dreams

the one I remember recently was my brother and I were being chased by Mafia type people, hid under some sort of bridge, they found us, shot me first. I died there.
Somehow transported to a two tombstone dirt graveyard on top of railroad tracks on a bridge over a river. My parents graveyard apparently. Then went to my sisters house (irl dont have a sis) and we couldnt escape the house b/c of a spirit that haunted the outside. So i went outside to kill it, jumped up as it flew at me, and we both exploded. In which, I died again. And then went somewhere with water.. a themepark perhaps, dont remember much after that...

So there, twice in a dream, death. And yet, I'm still alive to type this.
If you really want to be confused, watch the movie Sublime. Its a rather odd movie, that has to deal with dreams and dying in them...

I have died quite a bit. Normally I make it to be a long "cinematic" death with the nearest DCs sobbing over me as I die or planning then executing revenge for my death.

A few of my really interesting dreams have started with my death. I then watch the dream unfold as a 3rd person entity. I know I've had at least one where the result was militaristic, at least one where I watch the people I know attempt to recover from my death and I even had one where I died and nobody really cared >.< That was a scary dream.

Normally though when I die, theres a bit of pain, perhaps a ghost limb if something got chopped off (anyone who hasn't experienced this is seriously missing out) then everything goes really cold. Most times I won't want the dream to progress past my death and so I'll go back to an earlier time in the dream.
