Deep Meaning (Which I Can't Remember)

For several months now, I will occasionally (about once a week or so) have a dream that feels incredibly emotionally significant. It will either be revelatory or philosophical or otherwise emotionally meaningful. The problem is, without fail I can't remember any of them. I get the feeling that I could learn a lot, or at least have some dreams to remember fondly, if I could remember these. I've just started keeping my dream journal again, but even when I was keeping it before, it didn't seem to do any good with regard to these "significant" or "epic" dreams.

Does anybody have any helpful suggestions?

NREM dreams. These are the least vivid dreams. The dreams themselves consist of no more than impressions (sadness, fear, euphoria) and perhaps an image. Though usually, the feelings of these dreams are less intense than those experienced in REM sleep (night terrors being an obvious exception).

*shrugs* That's my guess, at least.

Yea, it's basically just an intense emotion you got during NREM sleep, since the brain is really active during sleep, as if you're experiencing a physically or emotionally straining activity...except you're sleeping.

The only time you dream is during REM sleep.

There's much more to dreams than just the story. I religiously do my DJ but perhaps once every 2 or 3 weeks I have an "epic". Write down anything. If you wake with just a feeling, write it down. Even if you don't have a name for the feeling, write down the location, the sensation, give it a name if you like. Anything.

In dreams, forgotten (repressed) emotions emerge from the unconscious. Sounds like this is happening to you big time.

      Thanks for the responses everybody.

And, Burned up, that would seem to make sense.

It's been awhile since I had one of these, but I know the feeling. I don't know what it is either, but I'd like to think it's something truly epic that I dreamed.
