      would this be considered lucid?

I've always been able to control my dreams, but to an extent. and it happens randomly. i didn't think there was anything special about it until i got older and found out more about dreams.

but sometimes i can consciously think in my dreams, not necessarily full CONTROL, but full THOUGHT. like, i can read text and then it's almost as if i hit pause, or sometimes i'm projected as my thinking self and i think the situation through, and then decide my next action, and decide what i want to happen afterwards and for the rest of the dream. but it's random. and when i wake up i know i had some sort of control over the dream. i just don't have control over the extent of, or when i want to use the control.

Well, lucidity isn't a black or white scale. There is a full spectrum of lucidity in dreams. What you are describing sounds like a low level of lucidity... you might have had a small thought that you were dreaming, but it wasn't full blown lucidity where you knew for certain that it was all just a dream - that your real body was asleep in your bed and that whatever you did wouldn't hurt your body, and that nothing around you was bound by any laws of physics.

I hope this helps. Oh, and welcome to DV!!!
