Red face why do i keep having these dreams

Alright well I first started having these dreams say a couple years ago.
They involve me and a good friend.
A little backstory: my friend is 51 years old. I'm 21. Most people wouldn't say she's traditionally attractive but I think she's got a nice figure, great legs, and a cool ethnic look. I dated her son for about 4 months but some shit happened. We don't see each other anymore but I'm still close with the family.
I'm bisexual. For awhile I was kind of infatuated with her. I'm not sure why. Maybe because she was different from any mother I'd ever met. She introduced me to pot. We could talk about any subject. She was like a big kid, but really smart. She helped me with things my parents wouldn't. We share a lot of the same ideals. She's tough and seemed confident. I liked that.
Then I started having dreams about her. I'm still having them.

In the dreams, we're having a good time. We're talking, hanging out, smiling at one another. I feel love. We touch, cuddle, hug, and kiss (something that never happened irl). The dreams are very intimate but not overtly sexual. i enjoy them. They happen pretty often, like once a month usually or sometimes more.
When I first started having them, I was a little embarrassed by it, not to mention confused.

For awhile then, I entertained the idea of having a bit of a crush on her (without having any expectations, obviously), but over time I realized that there are differences in our personalities that I can't deal with which eventually changed my mind about having a crush on her.
Sometimes she acts like a big baby. She's overly sensitive, and thinks she always right. Sometimes I can't stand being around her! She has issues, just like everyone. But if she hasn't dealt with them now, she's probably not changing.
She's my friend though, and I love and accept her. god knows I have my problems.

But I put boundaries between us. I place boundaries between me and everyone, but especially this family for some reason. (she does the same thing; i think we're both afraid to get close to people) I realize, we can't be as close as I think if I never allowed myself to fully open up to her.
So I'm over the crush, but what I can't understand is why I'm still having dreams about her. And when I wake up from them I feel so warm and fuzzy inside.

The only thing I can come up with is that it's my desire to become closer to her in waking life (in an appropriate way). I also realize the fact that I may have built her up unrealistically in my mind.

Thanks for reading this if you did. I know it was weird and you probably think I'm creepy. Any advice on why I might continue having these dreams?

      Quick thing, pot/drugs are ftl.

      Anyhow.

I think the only reason you'd be having such dream is because you had such an emotional bond with her. Like you said, she taught you things your mother never did, etc.

Are they bad dreams? Do you want to get rid of them?

I always dream about all past crushes. I think they'll never go away and it fine with me.

They're not bad dreams, like I said I enjoy them, but I do feel sort of guilty about continuing to have them.

Enjoy the moments you won't experience in real life. The main reason your having dreams so frequently about this subject is probably because of the amount of time you spend with him/her. Of course your going to have dream characters that 90% of the time are people you know and talk to most often. It's the easiest for your mind to emulate their speech/movements/behavior.

Lol what the heck? Let's not start a debate about bisexuals. (Erm, yeah, that would be quite an interesting topic. O_o)

But I must agree with the others, you are probably having the dreams because you had an emotional attatchment. I have had similar experiances (Emotions brining dreams that I have LONG since gotten over I mean.) so I know what you mean. Though the dreams lasted a while, it seems that right when the emotional level disapeared COMPLETELY so did those dreams. (It took a few years, honestly, but that is just how things go)

Ok, i'm bisexual (thus not thinking it weird), i smoke pot and have also had reoccuring dreams about certain people revieling deeper (and sometimes sexual) connections with people i don't even see that much in waking life.

I don't think anyone can really tell you why you're dreaming about her but i think its fascinating and i think it's worth exploring. I think the one thing that's awesome about dreams is what they can reveal to us about ourselves and our innermost fragile and beautiful connections with people when they're away from all the walls we build up in the waking world.

You seem to have a very clear perception of her and her weaknesses, maybe that have been keeping her stuck in circles for a very long time. Have you ever considered sharing this perception with her? There's a chance that this causes her problems and if you were to tell her as someone who loves and admires her what you think her weak spots are you could really help her. Its very hard to see these things yourself.

Maybe this dream shows you that you have a close connection to her and the unique ability to see her more clearly than others can. Maybe if you share this with her, she will be able to share her perception of you. Maybe somethings about you that you're not aware of will come to light.

Just throwing it out there. Good luck. weirdo. hehe

I get the opposite, I sometimes dream about getting real close to people I've never even really thought about, and if there's someone I really like I'll have crazy definitely non-sexual dreams about them. The most saucy ones I have are with girls I've never met that my mind made up I guess which I see as a good thing because it doesn't make for any awkwardness with people.

But this topic is about you. I'd say don't worry about it, what happens in your dreams doesn't hurt anyone.

The drug part of it? The THC? The fact that it's disgusting? The fact that it makes 90% of the people that use it DUMB?

      Eh? Ever tried it kiddo?
Half of what you're saying is propaganda. Do it. Just once. And tell me you didn't learn something from it.
I'm not saying it's all good and I'm not saying it's all bad. Everything in life should be approached with caution, and used in moderation (not just drugs).
But what you're saying is utter bullsh*t.
Ftr I don't smoke pot anymore.

I have. And it's disgusting is not propaganda and enough of a reason for me.

And I have proof as to how it makes people dumb. Everybody I've ever talked to that does it is literally shit stupid. Except for my friends that started it in University.

EDIT: I didn't learn anything from it.

Then you weren't using it for the right reasons. Seeing the world in a different way does not equal dumb. Just different.

I don't think it's weird or creepy at all. Even straight people have fantasy dreams about close relationships/intimacy with the same sex. Sometimes it has meaning, others it doesn't seem to - sometimes it could be more about reconciling with the gender part of yourself that you become involved with in the dream.

I think that your mind enjoys this relationship so much, it'd like to hang out more while you sleep. And that's ok! I think it's cool you were open-minded enough to entertain the possibility that you may have a crush on her in waking life but later discovered that you did not (though you still liked her as a friend). Tell me, even though your dreams are still there - are they a little bit less on the intimacy score now you have resolved the crush-conflict thing in your waking life?

If not, this may not be a dream about your relationship with her so much as your own relationship with yourself. If this is the case, ask yourself what qualities she has in the dream that you would like to posses but don't have. How would these qualities help you in everyday life? Why do you feel you have not developed them? How could you work on obtaining them?

Perhaps the intimacy between you and her in the dream is not so much a fact of fulfillling intimacy in waking life, but resolving your current unconscious self with latent aspects of your subconscious. Or something like that.
“Love is an attempt to change a piece of a dream-world into reality.”
      - Henry David Thoreau
