      Odd music sensation.

      Now, I listen to music before I go to sleep, when I'm really tired I take it off and then fall asleep in 10-15 minutes easily.

      A few times during the night I'll hear a song I played the day before and wake up. I then reach to take my earbuds out and then get angry when I realize they aren't there, and fall back asleep.

      It's a pretty cool sensation, anyone else get it?

      You mean like hearing a song in your dream that you are currently listening to? I love that sensation you get. I go to sleep occasionally with the television turned on and on the music channel, and when my sleep becomes lighter, which is about 4am onwards, I hear the song that is playing on the television in my dreams. What is really good about this is that I have a dream related to the song as well.
      Question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
      Answer: Neither, single-celled organisms did.

      Not exactly. I hear the song and go to sleep AFTER I take off my iPod, so it's silent.

      The song just repeats in my dream.

      Ha. You sound like me and my boyfriend.

      I do something like that. I listen to the radio, and sometimes I'll start hearing the music before I wake up, and it gets incorporated into my dream. Its pretty much BA.

      would you consider it strange if an alien spent several hours prone each night while their soul roamed in another dimension? We are strange creatures..

      I sometimes get really loud music in my head during dreams and hypnagogia, like so loud it clearly can't be just "music stuck in my head". Sometimes, in fact, more often, I get original music that I've never heard before that's being generated by my brain. Now that is cool. Too bad I'm not a musician...

      You probably do but don't remember. It's just the auditory equivalent of the hallucinations you see during dreams. What you might try doing is, when you wake up, just listen to see if there's music still lingering in your head. Often music plays during a dream and then can get stuck in your head for a few minutes after you wake up. Of course, if you're lucky, sometimes you'll hear the music directly when you're WILDing or whatever.

      this isnt really music related but its something similiar.
      my dad sold a car that had an engine problem to my sisters boyfriend, and the car literally rev'd on it's own every 3 seconds like someone was wanting to race at a redlight.
      I ALSO have a friend who drove a huge bronco with a loud motor in it who liked to rev his engine all the time anyways.
      I fell asleep one night and had a dream that my friend was outside revving his engine outside trying to show off, and i woke up and my sisters boyfriend was leaving to go to work.
      The sound of his revving engine triggered me to have a dream about my friend trying to show his truck off.

      Often get various musical experiences in my dreams.

      Sometimes I'll know them (Foreclosure of a Dream and 99 Ways to Die - both by Megadeth - are common ones);

      sometimes they'll be completely original (though I may misattribute them to a certain artist);

      and sometimes I dream about existing musicians or bands making entirely new material (like once when I dreamt of a 'new Metallica song' called "People of the Universe").

      ...And then sometimes I'll dream about funky remakes to existing songs (a gospel-sounding version of Slow Ride by Foghat, a rock version of What is Love by Haddaway).

      Dream music rocks.

      Megadeth is my favorite band ever (listening to them now actually!). And you completely described what I go through, to a tee.

      I wouldn't say, since I only get it when I'm waking up, but it's possible.

      Yes! I always get it! It's called listening to music too much. ♫
      Like yesterday, I was sleeping, then I woke up and heard a song playing, I took out my earbuds, turned off my mp3, and then went back to sleep. hehe jk.

      Its somewhat like the tetris effect though.

      It's like this:

      I wake up very quickly, (like you do several times during the night) reach over to take out my earbuds, and the I see they were never on in the first place, I get angry, and roll over to fall asleep.

      not sure if that has happened to me but I know that when I fall asleep
      with the TV on, I incorporate the things they are saying into my dreams.
      It always seems to me as if the dream knows what they are going to say
      next, and that is weird. But I know that is not what you're saying. I know
      though that whenever I hear that song 'Just Dance' on the radio....it stays
      in my head all freaking day!!

      Had that happen before...it was a documentary about dolphins, and I guess somehow I dreamt that they were talking about how sometimes dolphins will kill their own young for no apparent reason. It was creepy.
