      Too many dreams!

I've only been dream journalling for a week, but when I woke up this morning there were about four whole dreams that I could remember if I put my mind to it. All I think about when I wake up are my dreams so as I try to remember them I put my head back down. Before I know it I've slept in for two hours on and off and there's now about ten different dreams that I could recall if I tried. The amount of effort it would take to get up to my bedside and write them all down is tremendous so it just encourages me to sleep in more. I haven't written a single one down because the number of dreams is just too overwhelming.

This isn't even the worst case scenario: last night I had a dream epic which seemed to take two hours and was extremely bizzare. I recorded this by videoing myself, but this is hardly ever possible since everyone else is in bed and my talking would annoy them.

I don't know how I'm supposed to continue recording them. I know that a lucid dream could come any night now. Where on Earth should I go from here? Is it more important to remember fragments of lots of dreams, or just a few dreams in detail? An answer to that question would at least help me to organise my DJing.

Ugh... this is all the more proof that people aren't supposed to remember their dreams anyway. But to hell with nature, I want a lucid.

After you wake up, just move your upper body up so you won't fall asleep and keep your eyes closed. After you finish recalling your dreams, get out of bed and wright them down on the computer instead. I do this because it is SO much easier and faster to just type it out rather than wasting time, energy, and effort with writing it by hand.

Oh, and it is better to remember the whole dream instead of just fragments. Think about it. Would you want to remember only fragments of your lucid dreams too?

If all you can remember is fragments record the fragments, if you remember the whole dream record the whole dream. What you are going for is to record as much as you can regardless of whether it be little bits or huge pieces.

Once this is accomplished you may notice a increase in your overall recall which is what you are looking for. Soon you will be able to record large dreams including the small details. This is utltimately the end result you will be looking for.

This is what I've been doing recently, but the problem is that there's SO MUCH I can remember after keeping track of my dreams after a week that I just lose the motivation and sleep in. This, in turn leads to even more dreams and a vicious cycle starts which eventually comes to the ultimate conclusion of making me late for school.

Understandably, this can't go on. So, lets say I have five 'dreams':

      1) A few detathced images, fragments.
      2) A short but interesting dream.
      3) A moderate length dream, but which seems senseless or boring.
      4) An absolute epic which would take me a minute or so to piece together, in which time I might forget one or two of the other dreams.
      5) A short OBE or SP episode which was simply bizzare.

Lets say my attention span that morning could only cope with dealing with two or three of these. Which dreams should I focus on remembering? Fragments of a few, or details of just one. I'm just asking, from people's experience, which would be most productive in heading towards eventual lucid dream recall and occurence.

You never know, I might get better at it and in time I will be able to record everything.

PS. Thanks for the tips Corpse, they will be a big help.

If I were you, I'd probably record the 2nd, 3rd and 4th dream, as they sound the most interesting.

But it really depends, if you feel like it, I say write it all down.
And you might want to ask yourself if you really want to remember the dream.

I'd probably leave out 3rd too, if it's too boring.

You have good recall anyways, so just write what you want.

Also a thing to remember, is that you don't really have to write it as a book that others can read. You just need it so that when you see the text, the memory comes back.
So you can just write it in small notes that makes you remember, like some of the ones I write down in the middle of the night, in the dark...

      It'd be something like

      -In a garden
      -Sandbox
      -Looking at sky
      -Bird
      -Jumping after and catching bird

If that would be the dream, you would instantly get the dream back when reading it, so no need to put all that much detail in it.
If you remember that you caught the bird, then you're probably going to remember how you did it, and how the bird felt in your hands, no need to write those things down then.

However, I like to write them down in an epic way if the dream is epic xP

Ta, that makes a lot more sense. I usually write in full sentences because I feel inclined to. But you're right, the memory only needs key words to come back I guess. Ta!

Here is a good tip that have worked wonders for people in the past, including myself becuase I have the same problem. When you wake up, write down key words and major plot points. Then later when you have time, you will recall the dream again pretty well. Trust me, it works.

Yeah, what they said. Write down what catches your attention, and if you want to come back to it later, you can usually fill in a bit more. I have the same problem as you, though.
