      Music in Dreams

I couldn't decide whether to put this in here or in the General Lucid Discussion board, but here's my question:

Have you ever heard music in your dreams? I have vague memories of entire dreams set to music. The music was the most beautiful music I've ever heard, but I can't remember how it goes.

Alternatively, have you ever used a Lucid Dream to write music? Not practice songs you've already heard, not arrange, but actually compose music? I assume it would be ideal, as any type of audio effects you needed would be a finger snap away. And if you answered yes to that question, did it seem your creative juices were flowing better when you were asleep? Did the music seem as good once you woke up?

I've heard music in dreams before. I actually heard a dream remix of a song I really like and it was really great sounding. Better than the original but unfortunately it's not real.

I love playing piano but I've not had a dream of playing piano yet. I have had a dream about playing bass guitar, which I have never done but have always wanted to do. I just picked one up and started playing the bass line for the song "Shrinking Universe" by Muse.
Life in a box is better than no life at all, I expect. You'd have a chance, at least. You could lie there thinking, "Well. At least I'm not dead.'

A few dreams with music, but i usually hear music when im falling asleep. It's always new music. I sort of hear a drum line or bass line etc then as i start to drift it tutrns into a full on song, its never been music ive heard, its always really catchy and something my mind seems to make up of its own accord. I usually snap out of it beacuse my feet start tapping along to it and it kinda wakes me up even though im not quite asleep yet

      Aha!

I did have a dream where the most amazing song was playing. With lyrics.

So when I woke up, I played it over and over in my mind. I could still remember it.

I learnt it on the guitar.

But for some reason it lost its impact...the dream version was amazing.

And then I forgot the song due to lack of remembering.

      Shame.

      Cheers,
      Ben

That's what's happened to me - it seems like I either forget the music, or I manage to remember at least part of it, but when I wake up it doesn't seem as good.

Sadly it always happens in non-lucid dreams. Sometimes I can wake up and try and write down or record at least the melodies. I'd love to be able to hear music in a lucid dream.

If you remember, Rolling Stone's guitarist Keith Richards, he woke one night with the riff to "I Ain't Get No Satisfaction"...

You never know, he may have heard it as a whole symphony orchestra with a choir of sopranos and a tenor sax soloing away...and the original riff was all he remembered...

      Shame.

Yeah, I've heard music before. In fact, in one dream, the music was helping me climb a ladder. I was actually searching for music in my mind to play in the dream. Oddly enough, it was the Back to the Future score by Alan Silvestri.

I can't really say I've ever heard music... I would definitly compose a song/music/whatever but I don't how to and I suck at music so i think I'll pass and use my LD for other things... Even though it'll be good to put a music in the background

no I dont remember music in any dream, OR composing anything, but I do remember solving things in my dreams that i had been struggling with all day, I go to sleep and I dream my solutions, I even learned how to ride my bike in a dream when I was little, then when I woke up, Its like I had done it before, but I was riding my bike for the first time
Before you tell yourself Its just a different scene
Remember its just different from what you've seen

I just might try that! Would you be able to post your LD compositions sometime? Haha...

What do they sound like? Weird? Not weird?

Everything is an interpretation!! Music is amazing. It aligns directly to the dream. Some people use it to split their attention to a friend, and the song will sing about their friend. going furth, the next split can be the future, then its a song about the friends future, and on and on. One can learn anything this way, just like reading a digibook, or holobook. in a hololibrary art gallery. One can write a book, or a song, simply by proximity and absorbsion, utilising the strand of darkness that exits as now, in everything. kinda like having a music label. label the labeler. the nature of waking dreaming, and interconnected conscious links, using a timeframe that understand NOW and not then or (prerecorded), the mind and the surrounding align directly, to produce a sychronous relationship, right now. this is how one can enter the world, through anothers mind, or pull another into the mind of yours. that then reflects and aligns, seemingly creating the world around. there is a song playing right now, that is processing my thought waves into the TV and the stereo, and the people around me, the world unfolding, now. and so it becomes, what are thinking of? what do you wish to do, to learn, and to listen.

there was this commercial, for X-box, of a dude playing a new game. and as the camera panned around him to behind.. doors opened on the back of his head. inside was some wireing and a stage, with a band playing music, and processing his information into airwaves, horizoning his impulses into the game he was playing. or writing actually. on a 'disk', a holodisk, or chimmera disk, a tass disk, a prime disk. the game was sweet. very evolved and alien. great digital graphics. it went on then to depict a windows opperating system, merging with gateway tech, to ensure the successful trnsference of mind, into computer, into or rather out into, the virtual world. in otherwords a colapse and mergence of the world and the 'game'.

instead of just music in dreams, have you ever dreamed of a musical? I was once a pirate in a dream, but our ship was a singing sort of pirate ship. good times, good times! just singing with other pirates out at sea

      That's awesome!

Barbizzle that's freakin' genius. I can't sight read worth poo on a stick on the piano, but if I'm lucid, I'll just summon someone to do it for me.

I used to sleep on low music to try an experiment. It was completely accidental and random. I just put some chill out sets and tried to fall asleep without turning the system off, because you know, there is a certain point where the music seems very loud and harsh while you fall asleep. That short period.

I was dreaming the whole set, I was in a disco and the same music was playing on and on. The interesting point was when I woke up. The music continued uninterrupted from the dream to the speakers in my room. My sounds sensors weren't quite asleep and I felt happiness.
when the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Haha that's so cool. I've had a similar experience where I forgot to set a sleep timer on my radio before I go to sleep, and that night I subconciously hear the stuff that got reported on the news and dream about it. Made for an interesting experience when I told my parents I had a dream about a girl who was kidnapped, complete with her name, the next morning

I don't remember any music from my dreams. But I wish I could compose music in lucid.
