      Dream Interpretation

      Hello.

So I'm creating this poll to see what kind of dream-interpretation we all use if any and from what source.

Select more than one if necessary.

I'm doing a presentation for my class about dreaming and I would like to show results from this poll, so every vote counts for percentage reasons.

      Thank you

      Nice poll :]

I try not to have friends actively interpret my dreams for me. It seems to defeat the purpose of the dream being personal.

We find our own meanings, based on daily life and our day-to-day thought process. It's nothing static.

I checked the first two...I don't really believe in dream interpretation. There are some obvious dreams that have plenty of research and facts to back them up, such as teeth falling out correspond to excessive worry, but I don't think there're any good, surefire ways to interpret a dream where you fly to the moon in your bathtub, etc.

Personally I don't believe in dream dictionaries.

I do believe that the dreamer is always the most qualified eperson to interpret their own dream. Other people can help give ideas or insight, but at the end of the day the dreamer should always go with their own feelings.

I think that not every dream necessarily has a deep meaning, but many of them do.

Yeah I believe in my own interpretation, but at like barnes and noble sometimes reading through dictionaries are interesting too, although I don't take it's advice seriously.

I agree about dream dictionaries. I think maybe some broad ideas and archetypes MIGHT translate to most of us, but most things are personal. I have a phobia of a certain, completely benign animal. When I dream of that animal, I freak the heck out, but to anyone else, it would not inspire such fear. So for me, this animal represents fear, but that's personal just to me. If somebody didn't know about my phobia, they would think it meant something totally different.

I also agree that some dreams don't really mean anything at all. There are those, though, I think that do have some meaning and can help us to see things about ourselves or what's going on in our lives. But, yeah, a lot of them are just fun (or not).

I don't personally believe that dreams are anything TRULY meaningful... I mean they may expose hidden desires, thoughts, subconscious feelings, etc. But I doubt it can really help you in real life, unless of course you have unresolved internal conflicts from childhood experiences or something like that

I have two kinds of dreams; one where my mind is sorting through the activities of my life so I stay somewhat sane and the other where my subconscious is actually trying to tell me something. It's easy for me to tell the difference and only the second needs interpretation. I've used a dream dictionary for thirty years so my mind is in tune with its meanings but I've seen so many things over and over that I can now tell what they mean without it.
