      Help with forgetting a dream?

Hey guys. It's been a while since I've visited these forums, or for that matter, even tried to have a lucid dream. I've been slacking lately, because of certain events which have been taking place in my life. I recently (5 days ago) had one of the most vivid dreams in my life, and it was not a pleasant one. I can't forget about it. I remember every part of it, play by play. Every time I think about it, I want to puke. I NEED some way of forgetting it, or at least blocking it. Is this a possibility? Help

Must have been pretty bad. Was it a rape dream? Judging by your post, must have been even worse.

I don't know what to suggest. I don't think you can just block a dream from your memory, or at least not without something freaky or dangerous like getting hypnotised.
If you did get assulted in anyway maybe you could get revenge on these dream people, for a little closure. If it didn't affect you directly, maybe you could try and rationalize the dream.
Sometimes if I find out something thats true and very disturibing, I try and be ignorant about it by making up reasons why its not true, even when I know it is. Maybe you could try this? For example, if you saw some pregnant women get cut open and have her fetus stolen, you could pretend that you just perceived it wrong and in fact it was just a cesarean. Pretend that it didn't happen.

hey. i had a similar experience- during a time of high stress. a friend died, i got in a car accident, was completely dis-owned again by a parent, saw a friend shoot up who i'd tried very hard to help stay clean. not good. all in one day. ended up having a pretty bad dream. kid gets hit by truck. guts and blood all over the place. screaming and moaning, people puking in horror, etc. words wont do it justice, just like you describing it cant possibly give me the experience. somehow its all just unique to all of us..

the best thing you can do is try to understand why it happened. trying to forget it will only trigger a response to remember it. understand and accept it. take it as a sign of something. analyze it, even talk to someone about it. u'd be surprised what that can do! most of all, try and remember it was a dream. pick it apart. confront what you can in your mind. know that the experience was generated by you. know that it has meaning. i hope that helps.

Hypnosis is not dangerous. You cannot be forced to do anything that you do not want to do, and it has helped many people. If the dream is really, really bothering you, then I would go for hypnosis if that is available to you.
