Have you ever written a story using dream characters or events from your dreams?

I'm actually about to do that again. Dreams are just like an interactive movie, and the events are usually fantastical. And I know some directors took inspiration from their dreams.

So, how about you? Do you write stories about your dreams? Or do something else? Share

This is a good idea. I'm sort of a surrealist writer, and I know a lot of surrealist artists got their ideas from dreams. Salvador Dali was know to perch an object so it would fall on him and wake him up just as he was starting to fall asleep so he could paint things in his dream world.

I'm writing a whole novel based on a dream! I've had to change it a lot so that it makes sense, but the general gist of it is still there. It's about half finished right now, great fun to write!

Yep, I write as a stress reliever and almost all of my stories are at least slightly based off a dream. I have one story which is just retelling a dream (with a few minor changes). It’s about 1/3 of the way done, and when it’s finished, I might try to get it published.

Dreams are an awesome form of inspiration!

I made a story and just recently got it published I used my DG's as charecters. I have recently discovered I had a third DG, so I added him as a charecter. The story is great!

My mother tells me that almost every time she sleeps, the dreams she has are just a long continuation of the same story. It has caused her to think that she has a second life in her sleep and that she will go there when she dies.
I really don't know how strongly she believes that, but nonetheless, it would make for a good story.

I don't write anymore, but when I was a teen-20 or so, I used my dreams to write several novellas and one novel.
The most memorable one was "Gypsy Moon". It was a horror story and almost every night for a year, I had the same dream... or rather, a continuation of the same dream. I was so sick of the dream, I gave the story a crappy ending just to be rid of it... then again, I did that with my only novel "March For Freedom" too.
None of my stuff is that good, and I lost Gypsy Moon

Yes actually I do use a lot of my dreams for my books. Only problem is I would have a completly different dream and want to start from square one. I kinda leveled out on one charater that is based on me. Not to be all woooo look at me but she goes through similar things that I did as a child. One of them is about her sleep paralizes and lucid dreams.

Im too picky and found out I need glasses so its on hold but yes! I wouldnt have Lylian Monroe if it wasnt for my very real, very cool, and very scary weird dreams.
