      Dream or Imagination? Please help...

So after waking up this morning, I can't recall anything and it's just a total void. I tried to recall...by staying still with closed eyes and thinking hard, but nothing really comes in my head. So soon I fell asleep again(maybe not though) and a scene came in my mind. Afterward, I woke up or opened my eyes(I am not sure if I really slept that time) and decided if I should jot that scene down or not since I think it's a dream. Now the problem here is...that while seeing the scene, I can feel my physical body on the bed even my heartbeat. So I am asking myself is that really a dream or just a daydream or imagination.

I experienced this I think 3 times in this morning. The second one was longer and more vivid. I can also feel my physical body while I watch the scene. And when the scene was coming to an end, I thought to myself "I should look at my hands". My real physical body which I still feel did not make any move though. But another character from the scene which is not me is the one who responded to my thought and looked at his hands. The scene, which I still do not know if a dream or imagination, ended when the scene dispersed I just saw another total blackness, then I woke up instantly and there again, I am thinking if I should jot it down or not.

So please help me...are those just imagination or dreams? If you do not understand something, just ask.

I think know exactly what you mean. It's most likely to be a trance state/dream. I've had these several times before. I was on my boyfriend's bed listening to some music. I began to feel more and more relaxed until weird/psychedelic images started unfolding in my head. These were almost beginning to turn into scenes. It was like watching a move unfold in front of my eyes, but I was awake the whole time. Awake in the sense that I could physically move my hands, and tell my boyfriend what I was seeing at the same time.

When I was 17 I used to travel on a bus where I used to enter this trance state regularly. The first time I noticed was when I 'woke up' and started looking around the bus - then I noticed my eyelids were closed!!! I could move my physical body (turn my head & move my hands), but my bran was giving my a PERFECT lucid reproduction of what the bus looked like. I remember thinking 'whoa I can't believe this is a dream' - the only thing that gave it away as being different was the light was slightly dimmer and softer than in real life. As I said I looked around and turned my physical head whilst dreaming this. I know I was moving my physical body because I'd move my hand for example to grab the edge of the seat, and when I opened my physical eyes my real hand was there.

As far as I know these type of experiences are quite rare.

      Thanks a bunch for replying.

Hmm...well for me when that happened, I think I can't move my body(I am not sure though, maybe I could move it, it's just I don't want because I don't want to interrupt the scene or dream). But I can feel it and I can think like I am still in present and sleeping, just like what I did in the ending of the second. When I thought that I should look at my hands, but instead another character, who is not me, from there did it.

Well my friend this is deffinetely a Wake Initiated Lucid Dream that you've experienced. You may just have been confused of whether or not you were lucid because of inexperience.

^ HUH?! That was WILD?! You gotta be kidding me! There is no way for a newbie and inexperienced person(just like you said) like me to experience WILD that early in my attempts. I've heard and read that inducing WILDs are very hard that even experienced LD'ers find it a bit difficult to have one.

And I've read, that inducing WILD involves sleep paralysis, body twitching, hearing some crazy sounds and etc. When I saw those 3 dreams/imaginations(I still don't know), I did not undergo to those things.

I think that was complex HI (ie the scenes just before you enter a dream). However, you could have WILDed. Keep it up, and you could be a pro!

BTW, some people are v good at WILDs, even when new. Most people find WILDs difficult, but not all. There is no concrete lucid method.

^ It could be HI. But...the thing is...the scene was just going on and I am sure I did not create it. Yeah, I am starting to believe those three were dreams, especially the second one(I could narrate it it here, just ask if you want), but I could still be wrong. So please guys...if you know something about this that may help me, do not hesitate to reply.

BTW, thanks for sparing your time to reply here. I really appreciate it.

Dreams feel very real. A few nights ago, I had a lucid dream and was admiring it all, the realness and everything. It was my first decent-length lucid so far. They feel a lot like reality.

I think these are the differences between a dream and the HI just before.

      Dreams:

      3D all around.
Standing in it (usually, sometimes from above etc).
      All 5 senses.

      HI:

      In front of you.
Playing in front of your eyes
      A few senses.

On the transition, the scene will extend out forever. It does not stop at your eyelids.

Also, most of your dream, or HI, is handled by your subconscious (I think). It will not feel like it is created. Last night I got some rare audio HH. It seemed so real I woke up!

sounds a lot like my first LD's, I could still feel my physical body and also move it, but it was a dream for sure since I don't daydream(I can't think in images, but I do dream in picture, so if I see it I know it couldn't be regular imagination, I do have a photograhpic memory btw, sometimees at least)

Well mine seems to be different. Because you said there...HI is just in front of you. I had a dream a few days ago, which I am sure was not HI, that was in front of me. I was a character in the dream too...but the view is like in Counter Strike, Quake 3, and more shooting games where you can't see yourself only the front things and people. I think it's called first person view.

So I don't know what to believe in.

So about the second dream I am telling here in topic, it was 3D all around but I was not a character there. At the start though I was, but at the middle up to the end, it seemed like I was already out of the scene and was just watching the other characters play.

      Thanks for replies~
