Powers don't work right in dreams

For as long as I can remember, any dream of mine where I've had some sort of magical power or ability, I can't use the ability correctly. Either I'm supposed to have it but it's not working at all, or it begins to work, but then begins to fade out and not work.

This has happened every dream that I've ever had involving supernatural abilities, and I haven't had success to this day.

Does anybody have any idea why this happens in my dreams and how I could fix it for future dreams? I believe I had this problem in a LD, as well.

I don't know about non lucid dreams, but I think I can help you in lucid ones.
What you have to do is believe that it's going to work with out doubt. Just don't think twice about it. I had full control doing that in my first LD doing that.

Even if we gave you advice on how to do magic in non-lucids, you wouldn't remember because during a non-lucid you'd probably assume you were awake. :/
Its probably not because you are failing to use the powers, but because its a dream about not having working powers.

I was mostly curious because every dream involving powers that I've had has been the same. I think it's weird that I haven't been able to have an ability-related dream yet that hasn't involved them either not working when they should or me gradually losing my ability to use them until they're gone.

I'm hoping I can get a LD pretty soon to begin figuring out what's been causing this for so many years. I haven't had much luck in the past few years.

Once, in a lucid dream, I tried to fire a lightning bolt from my finger, but it didn't work.

The reason why doing "super natural things" in dreams is hard is because your dream mind reflects on what it is used to in real life. People can't shoot fire balls out of their hands in the waking world. However in a lucid dream we can do what ever we want. The thing is it takes some time to develop your skills to that point. That is why beginners might have trouble flying or making DCs appear just by looking into space.

I have the same problem. I always use telekinesis in my dreams, but it always starts to fail on me. When you are dreaming, you don't remember the basics you learn to help in reality, so you have to drill it into your mind while you are awake: You have to slow down, relax, and believe that you really can do it.

This is pretty common, and as for why it occurs, I have NO idea.

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow don't be alarmed now- It's just a springclean for the mayqueen.
Your head is humming and it won't go in case you don't know- The Piper's calling you to join him.
