When lucid Dreaming, is it just a memory once awake?

I haven't had a LD yet, but when I do.. is it like me sitting here typing this.. actually happening and i'm concious of it.. and then tommorow, i will have the memory of doing it..

or is lucid dreaming just something that happens and you remember it the next day but don't really live the moment it happens? hope im making sense

      You made perfect sense

Lucid dreaming is like living something...in real life. Yes, me sitting here typing could be a lucid dream. I could wake up any second. It's as real as that. Sometimes even more real (if that makes any sense). And then you just have memories of it. But it still feels like I HAVE actually done all those things that I have done in my lucids. I have real memories of being in Spain, for example...and those memories are the same as a memory of me flying or breathing underwater in a lucid.

      LDs are awesome!

you can have all of your senses in dreams, yes. which is why pinching yourself to find out whether or not you're dreaming is not a very sufficient test.

and then tommorow, i will have the memory of doing it..[/b]
maybe, maybe not. that depends on how well you recall your dreams. but chances are, if you really want to lucid dream, your first one will be something you won't soon forget. about it being a memory, of course it will be just a memory once it's over...but isn't yesturday just a memory too?

A memory is a rememberance of a past experience. Anything that you are not experiencing currently that you have already is a memory whether it is your own or someone elses.

Lucidity is the ability to know your dreaming when you are dreaming.

To remember your dreams is called dream recall. That is the ability to recall dreams as a memory.

This is a thread to help that out.

You have to know your dreaming to be in a lucid dreaming state.

I've found that I remember my lucid dreams just as I remember real life. However, that only has happened when my dream recall is at its peak. If I have bad dream recall it doesnt really seem like it really happened, but more like I saw it as a movie. So maybe dream recall is also tied to the vividness in which you remember your dream.
