Numbers in dreams, close to lucidity?

Does anyone else ever experience just... odd instances of math not adding up during a dream? Now, I'm not saying "1 + 1 is 7" but more in every day situations. I'll show you two examples from dreams of mine:

Last night, as in my DJ, I dreamed that I was out shopping. When I went up to the counter I had my purchase. Now, the clerk at the counter tried to hard sell a t-shirt to me: "It's only 20 bucks, and 2 dollars for shipping." And I was actually confused by why I'd have to pay shipping if I could buy it right there (this made me think that I was close to Lucidity--the fact that I was critically thinking a situation). He then goes on to say, "It'd be the best 2 dollars you've spent." (Here again I think I bordered on the edge of Lucidity. Because in my head/dream I remember thinking: Waaait, wasn't it 20 dollars?"

My second example is this: I was discussing showtimes, in a dream, with a man and his wife for the movie "Inception" (kinda funny, I think). In the dream I was at work, meaning it was before 7PM. So I told the wife I was going to go see the 7:20 showing of the film. They said they'd rather go see a 9:30 showing so the husband could get more sleep. I remember, in my dream, thinking: Wait, wouldn't a 9:30 showing get him less sleep?

Do you guys think that my critical thinking, while in dreams, is part of the dream? Or is it me hedging on lucidity?

I think it's a good sign, it doesn't mean you were necessarily close to an LD, but the fact that your using logic in a dream means that the logic part of your brain is on, and you can recognize dream signs and abnormalities easier. I believe natural lucid dreamers are really just people who keep their logical brain working when they sleep, so they can figure it out easier. That would mean that you can get lucid easier than some people.

Other thing is you might want to use bad math as a dream sign. Just RC when something doesn't add up... If this is only a recent thing I'll bet youll be seein more LDs soon

That's a good suggestion. I'll definitely give it a shot. I decided, before reading your post, that any time math/mathematical situations don't add up--I'd RC. My biggest problem is simply remembering to RC as it happens. But thanks for the tips, I think it'll help me for sure.

The reason I'm so excited about this is simply because I've never, and I mean EVER, remember my dreams or think critically in them.

Do you keep a dream journal? Most people can't remember dreams without one. That'll definitely help you with recall and realism. As for thinking logically in a dream, that's a skill in it's own right. Most people only start to after they get good recall and a few LDs, but some people are naturals at LDs, and the ability to think critically in sleep is the reason why most of the time.

The reason why most people can't at first is explained here: http://www.dreamviews.com/f33/dreami...-cortex-94231/
it gets easier with time though.

Thanks for the link, Shiraniaori. I'll check it out. Yup, and actually I just started my first dream journal about two weeks ago (on this site) and since then I've been improving (with the exception of a day here and there). I'm better at recalling than I have ever been before. And that in itself is something I really appreciate.
