..so I watched this short video about "indirect techniques" used to enter something called "the phase state." This video seemed to me like they were talking about different wake back to bed techniques used to transition straight into a dream - things like picturing an image behind your eyelids and passively watching it until it becomes vivid enough to become your surroundings.

..but then at the end of the video, it showed a chart that looked something like this

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"How the phase differs from wakefulness and dream"

wakefulness phase state dream state
self-awareness - [x] [x] [ ]

Realism of perception - [x] [x] [ ]

stability of surrounding - [x] [ ] [ ]

effort required for entry - [ ] [x] [ ]

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

..so my question is what is this thing called "the phase state?" I've never heard it anywhere before. Has anyone else heard of it; and what is the difference between the phase state and being in a lucid dream? Thanks!
