Why is it so difficult to realize in your dreams that you are dreaming? My dream recall has gone up in the last few weeks, But realizing off hand that I'm dreaming is what I wonder why is so difficult. even when I see dream signs or things that are out of the ordinary I sometimes find it difficult to just "wake up" in your dream. But other times is like I been waiting to start dreaming and LD outcome is different with more results and I don't have to try to realize that I'm dreaming. |

I recall a couple pages in Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming where it talks about that...it was an exerpt from some book called "Astral Projections" by Oliver Fox. I don't think it really explains why people don't realize they're dreaming, though..so I don't know. interesting question. |

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
What I think is that your unconscious does not fully want you to realize your dreaming. Since dreaming shows you an overview off the information you have received I think that the unconcious wants you to think it is real since in your concious state you might not think about things as detailed as your concious mind would. Your concious doesn't want you to know so you can think you are still in your life and so what your dreams are telling you help you connect your real life from your dreams. |

So many variables, so little knowledge.
i remember reading on this forum something that stated that parts of your brain shut down when you are asleep, parts that handle reasoning, etc, and these need to be awakened to become aware.. |

Well, yeah, the logic central of the brain doesn't properly function during sleep. The habit central, however, does function. So when you RC enough during waking life, eventually it will become a habit and the habit will carry over to your dream. So, the habit central of the brain can activate the logic central of the brain. Different people go at different speeds for creating habits. I find that if you're good at hypnosis, you can at least temporarily make it a habit within one sitting. It takes quite a bit of work, even with hypnosis, to make it permanent. |
