Doing Reality Checks in many dreams, not becoming lucid

I have a pretty good dream recall, and on an average night I'll remember around 3 dreams on a detailed level. In many dreams I find myself doing reality checks, but not becoming lucid. I'll do the nose-plug check, and think: "Heh, funny. I can breathe through my nose", without any lucidity. Any tips?

And for those wondering, I don't do absent minded reality checks. I really take the time, stop, listen to sound, and thoroughly dissecting my surroundings. But when reality checking in dreams, I just don't seem to mind.

I wonder, do you make those RC at random times, at the sight of a dream sign, or as an habit?

When you do RC during WL, are you actually questioning your reality? Or just doing them mechanically and not thinking about it?

I often walk around, and imagine how my surroundings would be if it was a dream, to increase awareness. Other than that, I RC at random times and at the sight of a dreamsign.

I question my reality. I look around, and see if anything looks "wrong", distorted or out of the ordinary.

First of all, if you practice doing RCs in waking life, and just make a habit/routine of it, or perform a RC already knowing the answer and/or expecting the same results, that will transfer into your dream.

If you constantly are poking your hand seeing if your finger goes through and nothing happens, while thinking, nothing is gonna happen, but ill do the RC so it will transfer into my dream, well... nothing will happen in your dream.

You have to believe that something WILL happen when you do. Truly question yourself in your waking life. Become aware, have conviction, believe you really can poke your finger through your hand (or whatever RC you are doing).

Second, if you dont have high enough awareness levels, even if you do succeed with a RC, you might not become aware to the fact that you actually dreaming. You may stay by as a viewer of your dream.

Ah, so when you do the RCs, you are focusing on the surroundings, increasing awareness is good, however, while performing a RC, you should pay more attention to the RC than the surroundings, so that the message will pass fully, wether you are asleep or not.

Ok, thanks to all of you!

I'll have your tips in mind, and give feedback in the thread in a weeks time.

Also, you might want to ask yourself before RCing "am i dreaming?" every time. That way itll carry over into the dream, and youll remember what "being able to breathe through your nose" means.

Only those who attempt the absurd will achieve the impossible.

Also, I think you have different levels of lucidness because I had this time I reality checked and I didn't had any fingers on my right hand and didn't do anything with this, while another time I just knew it was a dream and I changed some things

so like on lvl 1 your a complete retard without any logics.
and on lvl 10 your completly "awake" in your dream.

      or something like that
