      A Question for the Naturals

If you have read my posts then you know that I have been LDing for the past 33 years since age six. My question pertains to how or why you think you began naturally LDing. I believe that I began as a way of coping with the mental and physical abuse that I underwent at the time. It was a self defense mechanism that hasn't stopped yet. What about the rest of you?

I just kinda started out of the blue one day while I was taking naps my freshman year of college in the dorms. I don't know how or why? But I'm very thankful.

I've really never had very much of an imagination. If I see something abnormal I'll question it.

I had my first LD was when I was eight years old, about two days after school let out for summer vacation. I had a dream I was in school, and i said "what that heck, why am i at school?" After that, I decided to be more aware of my surroundings to see if I could LD again. (I didn't actually know the term "Lucid Dream," and I didn't really think it was anything too special either. I thought it was cool that I knew I was dreaming though.)

I'm not sure if this answers your question. (By the way, I don't have LDs every day, maybe 1-2 a week if i'm lucky. I don't know if that's considered a "natural.")

I think since the first dream I had I knew I was dreaming. I just always know when I go to sleep and wake up. It just is natural. Ok I am going to sleep now I tell myself. I then think ok I am going to wake up. I then wake up from my sleep and start my day. It never occured to me that so many people would find it amazing to what I though was just the normal way to dream.

Mmm Life for me kinda suked at one point...I copped alot of crap at school so i use my imagination alot whilst walking and stuff, just playing out scenes in books that im writing. I used books, Rpgs ( w00t w00t teh Final Fantasy) and writing as escapism. At like the age of 13 I would have Lucid Dreams Like once a week. If had a dream journal since then, But I call it a dream Penseive...Go Figure <Cough> Harry Potter </Cough> But hey I love me Life now and I still have them. -=:LUCID 4EVA|::=-

my first one was a reaction to a situation in a dream.
Don't suppose anyone remembers The Muppet Show. Well I was being chased down a small shallow stoney riverbed by that real huge hairy monster muppet, you know that one thats about 7 feet tall and looks like a sasquach on meth.
I just realise all of a sudden - It's a muppet, it's a dream. Que summoning pump action 12ga. and its time for some payback

Never had another till I googled LDing and came here
I've been so lazy - someone kick me.

I believe his name is "Sweetums"

My first LD was a simple nightmare when I was 9 or 10. Like Elephantman, I was being chased by a monster, and suddenly thought "this must be a dream". I have always had a logical thought process, and I think it just grew out of that, rather than any particular event in my life.

I've been doing it every night since I was 3, so I am not far from behind you, considering that I am a Junior. Do you do it naturally, or by letting your body fall asleep b4 you start dreaming? I do that all the time!

For some reason I thought that Sweetums was a girl...not sure though...I just had this brief recollection from one of the Muppet movies that made reference to him/her being a female.

And too furthur take this thread off topic...my most memorable Muppet Show was when Kenny Rogers was a guest and he sang "The Gambling Man" aboard a train car with "cowboy muppet ghosts" in the background singing along.

OMFG! I don't mean to butt in off subject here, but EVERY TIME I see that 7-up(?) commercial where the guy starts singing that muppet song, I laugh my ass off. I have no idea why it cracks me up so much, but it totally does. My brother thinks I'm so retarded. I think I need to find that mp3 and harass my brother with it!

Just a natural ability, that's why it's called Natural. For me it was not a result of any abuse.

Im a naturla Lucid dreamer. I dont think its beacse of absue or anything like that. but... I have hearing aids, but i didnt get them untill they found out i need them at 4 years old. perhaps i just had 4 years to develpoe my inner slef more than most people did at the same age. I was always conviced that lucid dremas were a real place, just as real as waking life, and that might of contributed to my natural abilites. And when i was a little bit older i did the MILD technie aournd 7 or 8. Of corse I ddint knwo what it was, but i used ot wake up at night and knwo i wnated to go back into my dream world so I did.

      8) Well Since here every one is telling there stories I'll tell you mine. I'll try to stick to the basics so if it gets boring it won't hurt for long. I had a Jewish friend that read books on dreams about 35 years ago but I didn't pay it much attention at that time. As a matter of fact I forgot all about that for years. I said that because I don't know if that may of played a part threw my subconscious. So about 3 months ago I was having a normal dream as usual. I am walking down a road and to my right was a long cable hanging down and swinging from a Crain of some sort, like used to lift steel beams when constructing a building. It was swinging back and forth and then caught onto the branch of a tree and started to wrap itself around the branch like in a cartoon because when it finished wrapping around that branch it continued to the next smaller branch and so on and went faster and faster. As this was happening I said to myself this must be a dream. After the rush of realization I said praise Jesus to a few people standing near by and I flew up to a higher level of ground. It was not unusual for me to fly because I’ve done that in my non-lucid dreams many times since a young boy. I call this Lucid experiance natural because I didn't intentionally try to achieve it

I'm not sure if I qualify as a "natural" lucid dreamer or not. I've been lucid dreaming from at least the age of six or so, but can't recall if I was a lucid dreamer before then.

I wasn't abused or anything in my childhood, but I was very much a loner and in a distinctly different mental state to my peers. I had a strong imagination and daydreamed incessantly. Dreams too I found fascinating and probably took more of an interest than most children would.

So when I was having a boring dream and thought of a way it could be better, I changed it. When I woke up from a good dream and decided I wanted to go back into it, I'd try. My success was variable but often it worked.

The reason I joined the forum is to get back the lucidity I had when younger. These days I seem to be too tired or too grounded in reality to properly dream any more.
