I'm sure you all know the Stephen LaBerge hosts those lucid dreaming programs on Hawaii every now and then. Well, look at this:

During this workshop, you will also have an opportunity to use the NovaDreamer2, and, if you wish, participate in ongoing research on a natural substance that, according to recent studies, has been shown to stimulate lucidity and mindfulness.

That means that the machine is done, and it looks like the people who go on that (admittedly expensive) trip will be the first ones to try it out. Hopefully that means a 2010 release.

Of course, I know lucid dreaming induction devices are by no means necessary, but this still has my interest. This is Stephen LaBerge, after all!

Seems like a lot of money to dish out for something that could be done for free.
Just need a little commitment and practice.

I made one once:
the googles cost me $10 - I used black safety glasses and drilled holes from l.e.d. lights from a x-mas decoration ornament set to a timer.

It worked, but I had to play with the frequency a bit.

lucid dreaming induction devices are pretty cool - I\\\'d like to make a retro dream machine one day.

If you buy a Novadreamer 2, let me know how it works for you.

The Lucidity Institute has been talking about the Novadreamer for years now (maybe like 4-5 years) and I think they have even demoed prototypes at those retreats before. Still, nothing has been released and there are no solid release dates. So I am not holding my breath, it will come out when it comes out (if ever). I recently got an REM-Dreamer and I have yet to get it to work like I wanted. Not sure if dream masks are the answer, I seem to be able to have a decent amount of LDs without it.

Also, I once built that dream machine. It was a cool experiment and induced some hypnogogic imagery, not a full blown LD, but it was still cool.

atm that's science fiction - maybe in 100-200 years

Not dream sharing like Inception, just basic inter-dream communication using Novadreamers or REM Dreamer with REM detection and dreamer feedback; all simple electronics using proven psychological techniques.

I know somebody mentioned once that they had some trials with galantamine at one of the retreats, so it could be that. Or it could be any other number of substances.

Topcat - Wow, that's actually a brilliant idea. Something like that should be possible, considering things like the simple 2-way communication like with the REM-Dreamer. Wow, the things we could do???
