      Question Recurring nightmare monsters?

      Hi,

you may have noticed me already, made a post to Newbie Zone... anyway:

Anyone have a nightmare creature that is recurring? Between 8 years I have had a black wolf attacking me in four different nightmares in different environments, one time there being a whole pack of them. One of my goals when I succeed LDing is to make it " a good wolf" by making it white and my companion.
      Anything similar? Just curious.

I rarely have a nightmare or a bad dream but whenever I do I turn it back into a good dream, you will proably find that you like your recurring nightmare soon as it will most likely give you a lucid dream everytime. Good luck on taming the wolf

As Inphinity pointed out a recurring dream can actually make it easier to achieve lucidity. If you are able to train yourself to think "Wait- a black wolf again? This must be that dream!" then you can go lucid, and then have the ability to create a wolf companion, or simply do away with the threatening one.

Yeah I have done that, doing reality check whenever I see an image of a wolf or similar in real life. Same with other recurring signs, like dark places or people.
But I'm interested to hear if someone else has had something similar, recurring monsters or, something.
Something that has been recurring randomly for years?

      Hey there,
I have had dream "enemies" that do re-occur. Although I have yet to encounter them while lucid, its usually a twisted looking version of myself, or one of my friends; Its essentially the same thing though.

Since I've learned about how the mind works during dreams, I've been picking up on little things to help myself either avoid or be able to confront any imaginary threats during my dreaming. For some reason these tricks are just "programed" in my mind for me to do even if I don't become lucid.

The first thing is to avoid mirrors in dreams. Its silly, but in reflections there is (for me anyway) a high chance of seeing something threatening or distorted. That's usually how I run into that frightening figure. Once I learned I, for some reason, just don't do it anymore in dreams.

The location of the dream plays a big part too. When a dream takes place in my room, I know to not look at the mirror. I have a strange, leafless forest the appears many times in my dreams too. I haven't seen anything yet, but I often get a feeling a distress or that something bad is getting close when I'm there. By knowing locations you can try to prepare yourself ahead of time.

Another thing that I've done that could help bail you out of trouble in general is by telling yourself that you have the ability to defend yourself in your dreams. I now keep an imaginary "sword" of sorts now in my dreams when I become lucid, just in case I run into trouble and can't think straight enough to use my mind to warp myself somewhere else.

I hope that this helps you deal with your dream monsters somehow!!

Thanks for info! Although mirrors aren't necessarily things that have evil things in them, it's what you expect there to be. (This is what I have heard, anyway.) I've had mirror only once in my dream and I had white gray eyes which freaked me out. But then again I had just read thread about mirror experiences, so...
Sounds good, carrying "sword" or similar in your dreams. I am going to do something similar when I get my lucid dream.
