Well that was unexpected.

So I had my fourth lucid dream last night and experienced something a little off the wall. After I became lucid I remembered something I'd been wanting to try: to find a dream guide.

I thought I'd try the door and expectation method. I was in my apartment and so started drawing the rough outline of a door on one of my walls. The details of the door filled themselves in and in next to no time I was standing in front of a brand new door installed in my apartment wall.

I affirmed my expectation to find my dream guide on the other side of the door and opened it. What I was faced with was an exact mirror image of myself, it was even holding it's own version of the door open. I closed the door and it disappeared. I tried once more with a brand new door and was confronted with the same results. When I wanted a dream guide I saw myself.

At the time I'd thought the attempt was a failure all round and went off to attempt other stuff but now that I've been awake a few hours, and put some thought into it, I'm left wondering if my subconscious was attempting to tell me that I'm my own guide. This would certainly fit my introverted and independent personality.

Anyone think they can help me out with this? Is my subconscious conceited and telling me I'm my own guide or should I keep trying?

Why did you shut the door instead of talking to your mirror image? What kind of thoughts and feelings were going through your head when you saw yourself in that moment?

Of COURSE we're our own guides... nothing surprising that you saw yourself, there. ^_^ Just because it looked like a mirror image of you doesn't mean you can't gain something from it.

In fact, if that happened to me, I'd be one happy boy! I'd be asking my self all KINDS of questions, cuz I'd trust him to be honest about it more than anyone else.
