      Anyone else experience this?

      Right, basically after a dream and before waking up I, on occasion, like today, have an FA, where I'm lying in my bed but know it's a dream, and it's impossible to get up, like, really impossible, (I know it's sometimes hard to get up in FA's but this is different) and then after usually 5-10 seconds I do wake up and my viewpoint doesn't change (I'm still seeing the same thing as I was in the "dream")- you also know you are about to wake up. Now, I guess this could be classified as a hypnopomic state but has anyone else experienced something similar?

      I haven't, but don't you think it may just be sleep paralysis?

      Sounds like sleep paralysis, but you have 976 posts under your belt and I would wager someone who's been posting that much would have come across an explanation of what SP is before.

      right, sorry, I should have been more detailed - when in that state, for example earlier today, the entire thing felt "dreamy/distorted" and the fingers on my hand (it was over my head) were sharp and my hand was weird in general. Was I in SP? sure, as during all dreams. Is it a hypnopompic state? probably, but I'm wondering if anyone else here has had similar experiences and what they make of em.

      I get the same way. I am in a LD but then I can open my eyes and see the room that I am in. I cannot move but I feel like I can. If I close my eyes I can go right back into a LD. I know my hands are, let's say at my side, but I "move" them in front of my face and can kind of see them. The only way for me to wake up from this is to squeeze my eyes shut very tight and try to shake my head back and forth to snap out of it. But even if I wake up, I can go right back into a LD if I do it within a few minutes of just laying there.

      Yes, I understand the nuance yuriythebest is trying to describe between SP and this....it has happened to me on several occasions in my past. It's almost just like sleep paralysis, but you're still in a frequency slightly off this one. (So you can actually hallucinate while SEEING your room and all the other normal stuff...) Let me share with you one of my most bizzare dreams EVER that I had about 6 years ago with this exact thing occurring.

      I had just woken up from a dream... I tried to move but couldn't. My TV was in front of my eyes, though, and all of a sudden (even though the TV was off), little green stick figures (more like polygonal figures), started marching into the screen from one side, and little blue polygons started marching in from the other...and then they started fighting each other in hand to hand combat.

      The green men seemed to be beating the blue men... all of a sudden I felt bad for the blue men or something... and then I noticed every time I tried to move and waved my "dream" hands or legs in front of the TV, (which I don't remember seeing, just feeling), another little blue man would pop out from the top of the TV and fall down to help that side battle! (Yes, I know... this is fucking weird as hell.)

      I started flinging my "dream/spirit" hands and legs quickly and all at once to produce more of these men. (I wanted to WIN, dammit!), but I guess I just couldn't spawn them quicker than the green men were taking them down! However, I got REALLY close and when all was said and done, only one single green man was left after the little 30 second war in my television. After THAT it got even weirder... the final green polygon turned to ME, leapt OUT of the TV and grew to be HUGE (my size), as he landed right on my stomach with his feet.

      (I blame the polygons on playing too much Smash Brothers Melee. >_<)

      I didn't feel anything, but the moment he "contacted" me, I was instantly snapped out of my sleep paralysis and shot STRAIGHT up out of bed saying, "Whoa!"

      I then proceeded to laugh hysterically for another 30 seconds.

      Yeah, I know... words can't describe how odd this is. But it makes for a fucking hilarious story.

      -K

      ETA: Just for the sake of truth and accuracy, there is a very small chance I've the colors reversed. ^^;;

      I have experienced this before....I dont know exactly what it was but I was in a deep sleep and I knew that I would wake up in a couple of minutes....In my dream I was staring at my ceiling fan and when I woke up I was still looking at my fan...

      THe cool thing was I managed to make myself fall asleep in a minute and I could get up again when I wanted...

      I think I had something similar.

      I was having a dream where I was on a bus going to a "Newspaper Museum", I then suddenly realized this dream was boring as hell and the bus was all fake and paper like. So I threw the bus away and the dream fell apart leaving me in a FA where I was laying in my bed looking to the side, but everything was blurry and the only detail I made out was a metal pole that seemed to belong to a vacuum cleaner(which I didn't have at the time). Then I realized nothing in my room looked like that and this had to be a FA, I then tried really hard to open my real eyes and saw an alternate image of my room which I recognized right away as being how it really looked, I then let my eyes re-close and again saw the version of the room with the metal pole. I did that a couple times until the false image faded and I woke up.
