      Dream control but not lucid?

Argh this keeps on happening it's driving me mental.

I just awoke from a dream in which I was discussing lucidity with some co-workers and they thought I was crazy. I told them about which reality checks I usually do (and did I do them? for some reason, no) and they tried them out and came to the conclusion that they were dreaming.
Then one of them had the brilliant idea of having a go of dream control by re-creating the house from the movie A Nightmare On Elm street and asked for my help doing so. I shrugged and thought "eh, it's just a dream, I have control so why not". As I helped, I notice now that it were only my ideas manifesting. They didn't seem to have any control whatsoever which leads me to believe that they were only dream characters.

Other events followed which I probably don't need to go into if you've seen any of the movies haha. Except instead of killing, there were orgies. And honestly, I would've loved to have gone to rest of my life without seeing Freddy Kruger in a 4-way before my eyes but I guess I figured it was better than watching 4 people turned into mince meat. I woke up and thought, "..oh shit..."

Why would a dream character even suggest doing such a thing?!

I think that type of thing happens a lot to lucid dreamers, or to people trying to have lucid dreams. Dream control without actual lucidity, or realizing you're dreaming but only in a certain sense, not fully realizing that you can do anything. Or talking to dream characters about lucid dreaming.

I've started to make myself do a RC whenever I am talking about LDing to someone in real life, and hopefully it will continue over into dreams if I have a dream conversation about LDing again. Doing a reality check now, even.

      swell idea.
I've been trying to remember more of my dreams to pick up on dreamsigns. I can't remember their username (which is a terrible start to the whole trying to remember stuff thing) but someone on here suggested keeping a day to day diary of events, which I've been doing before getting into bed and it's been working really well.
so far I've been doing reality checks whenever i walk through or find myself in a carpark and whenever i just feel a bit iffy in dimly-lit places. i'll add talking about lucidity to the list.

      ..*reality checks*
