If you feel it's your secret life, I imagine if you did tell them, and they seemed uninterested, you'd feel pretty bad. Not only because your secret was out, but because it turned out no one cared.
Honestly, ....... I don't have any friends.
My boyfriend (who is online, but we've been together 6 years and visit in person every 3 months or so) listens when I talk to him about it, but isn't very interested in it. He has a thing about everything being for a 'purpose', so he finds the idea of a goal of lucid dreaming to be sort of pointless. I want him to have a really vivid and cool LD so that he can see how amazing they can be. The few he's had accidentally have been mundane, like one in which he had worked really hard on something in the dream, then realized he was dreaming, and was pissed off because he had done all that work for nothing. I've tried to explain it, but I don't think he understands how vivid and fun they can be.
As for my family, I mention it to them sometimes, but they don't seem interested, just as they aren't interested in about every topic I try bringing up. I tend to be interested only in specific things that most people aren't like philosophy and fantasy books and scienctific advancements, and uninterested in the broad topics of conversation that everyone is supposed to find interesting like where to find a good hair salon or vacation destinations or how to spend less money, so it's difficult for me to converse with my family without getting bored or boring them.
