Thread: Lucid-Dreaming based MMO?

No, I'm not talking about shared lucids.

Basically, the idea came to me in a lucid dream last night.

Whenever you go to sleep, you put on some sort of headwear device sort of thing, that reads the brainwaves associated with dreams. This would be significantly advanced technology that can read every slight thing that happens in your dream.

Now, this device sends the signals about what you're dreaming about back to a central hub/server somewhere. This central hub/server sends out signals to all of the devices everybody's wearing to

A. Induce the dreamer into lucidity.

B. To override the dream brainwaves and make the person dream about a certain area, with certain DCs... Kind of like the world in an MMO.

The dreamer is thus thrust into the world of the MMO. They still retain free will, but the world is constructed from the signals sent by the central hub. Their actions in the world are then sent back to the central hub, who then sends those signals to the other "players", who promptly see that player in the "game". This can be used for anything from games like WoW to Call of Duty to even RTSes.

As I said, we would obviously need vastly superior technology for something like this, but I thought the idea was pretty cool, myself. Gaming while you sleep! It's perfect!
