      Games based off Dreaming?

Hey guys, I am into dreams, I am wondering if anyone knows any video games based off dreaming, any kind of dreams in general. If there is I would be appreciated if anyone could tell me some. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I asked because I want to play a role playing game based off dreaming. I feel like having my imagination wander around when I'm playing them. Well anyways, Thanks. I asked it in this forum because I was talking about dream related stuff. So thanks.

Well the one game I know of is an old Sega Saturn game called Nights : Into Dreams. They had a sequel for it on the Wii also. It was an action game though, not an RPG. If I can think of any others, I'll let you know

The only game that I can think of right now is Dreamkiller, but it's not an RPG and it sucks.

There is--though I do not know how there is or why there is--a sense of infinite peace and protection in the glittering hosts of heaven. There it must be, I think, in the vast and eternal laws of matter, and not in the daily cares and sins and troubles of men, that whatever is more than animal within us must find its solace and its hope. I hope, or I could not live.

Well, I can't think of any completely based off dreams, but the series Silent Hill's whole theme is the town itself shows you things that are completely symbolic of something you feel inside, like guilt or how you really feel towards someone and it shows you this physically, in the form of events, people, or monsters and that's exactly what dreams do.

Interpreting the things in Silent Hill, is exactly like interpreting yours, or someone else's dream. I think if you're good at either of those, you should be good at interpreting the things in SH. I can interpret my own dreams perfectly, and I understand most everything in a SH game.

Thanks for helping guys! Yeah I've heard about Nights and Silent Hill. I'm considering picking them up at GameStop or Amazon when ever I get the chance. Thanks.

Play LSD-- it's for PS1. It's based entirely on a person's dream journal over a span of 10 years.

It's a very different game, more of an experimental film really.

I've never really thought about a game based on dreaming...but that sure would be cool!

Maybe we should get a bunch of people on the forums together to make one of our own. The potential is so awesome! Like there could be a lucidity meter, which allows you to have control over certain parts of the dream if you are lucid enough, and you could only gain lucidity by seeing certain out-of-the-ordinary things. And there could be two plots going on, one in waking life, the other in dream life, yet they'd be tied together by the villain and the hero accidentally participating in shared dreaming.

Seriously, if enough people are up for it, I'd totally pitch in with 3D models, music, storyline...whatever!

That would be pretty awesome, Live. You just need a strong, compelling storyline to make it work, I'm just not sure if it should be of epic Lord of the Rings standards or something more common, like a guy kills the heroes family and they battle in dream. Or make it more metaphysical, like the Nightmare on Elm street series.

Either way, it'd be fun. But I'm betting most of the idiots masses will think it was just an altered reality type movie like Stephen Kings stuff, like how EVERYONE thinks Creed's "Higher" is about Heaven. I don't even think that, and I'm a Christian!

Never knew that about Silent Hill. It really puts it into perspective.

I haven't encountered many games that were based off dreaming, but I've definitely had dreams that were based off gaming!

Yeah, It's been my dream to be a game designer. I am currently thinking about getting into 3D Modeling and Animation and making a Project movie about Lucid Dreaming and dreaming in general if I graduate High School this year. I hope to accomplish the goal.

@ExoByte, That's a really good thread there! I wish them luck with the project!

Oh yeah, for those of you who saw my earlier post about creating a (3D) game, it's been moved to here. Check it out if you're interested. Nuff said on that...I don't want to get off-topic again!

I checked out LSD: Dream Emulator on youtube...weird stuff, but it definitely reminds me of a dream. IMO it's not really the best way to put dreams into video games, though, since there's not much of a point to the game...

Yeah I am really hoping for a 3D based Lucid Dream type of game with 3rd or 1st person. The LSD: Dream Emulator, I also saw a few videos of it on youtube and it hardly made any sense. I thought I was getting a seizure from watching that video of the game :s. The dream game would be a good idea. Not the LSD Dream Emulator. The dream game if someone makes it. Giving us what lucid dreams look like in a game form, That'd be one cool experience.
