How Does Keeping a DJ Help You to LD?

I understand that keeping a dream journal is important for recall and everything.. but how specifically does it help you to, over time, have a greater number of LD's?
      That's what she said.

      Ah a very interesting question.

First and foremost you can't have lucid dreams if you don't remember them. Dream journaling allows you to boost recall. And higher recall = higher chance of LDs. If the odds of having a lucid are 1/50 (totally made up) recalling 50 a month would give you a higher LD freguqnecy than recalling 50 every two months.

Dream signs are another huge benefit. You can't detect these as well if you don't have a record of your dreams.

It's fun. Going back and reading old dreams is fun even if it doesn't actually help you. Don't think lucid dreams are 100x better than non lucid dreams. Anything recalled is good.

In addition, it seems to me that taking the time to write down dreams reminds me of dreaming and of my LDing goal, which makes me more likely to have a LD. Sort of like reading LDing articles might help someone LD just because their mind is being devoted to something LD-related.

It's kind of interesting to write down your dreams. In fact I think I will write a few down now. DJing has never helped me become lucid though I hardly ever write down dreams yet am lucid at least a few times a week

Keeping a dream journal if anything will help you become more interested in your dreams, i gather you would not be able to have a lucid dream if you had no interest in dreaming. Interestingly i also find it makes your dreams more vivid (not just lucid dreams), i think this is a subconcious reason, like your mind makes more of an effort with your dream knowing your going to remember it and write it down.. Like you would put more effort into a piece of artwork if you knew it was going to be seen by lots of people not just stuck on your refrigerator (you will also get more symbolism in your dreams for the same reason).

Similarly, if you remember more of your dreams, you will spend a greater amount of time during the day thinking about them. Having more thought about your dreams and being more aware of them is certain to help you get lucid.

No point in Lucid Dreaming if you are unable to recall them.

And like someone has noted before. Dream recall is extremely important for spotting dream signs.
