How can I have long, stable and maleable lucid dreams.

I got into lucid dreaming a few months ago and I have them all the time when I take naps. I rub my hands togethor and everything to make it longer, sometimes I can manipulate the world sometimes I can't. The problem is nothing seems to last longer than 30 seconds to a minute for me and the majority of lucid dreamers. Yet there are many people who say they have 15-30 minute long lucid dreams.

What is the difference between me and other dreamers here?

I also seem to lack control, some of my first lucid dreams I was able to summon characters, change the scenery but my last few dreams I feel the dream has not cooperated with me. I also feel like many of the dream figures are hostile towards me or indeferent. I feel like the dream kind of kicks me out if I am not nice or something.

does interacting hostilly with the dream make it uncoopoerative? Is it possible for the dream to "kick you out" beacuse of your actions?

or is this all just a matter of experience.

I would say experience, also, why should the dream be uncooperative? Unless you, conciously or unconciously think it is bad, there should be no problem.
And nap dreams, maybe thats the problem, my dreams early night are shorter than the ones late night, the few times I have naps, the dreams barely last any longer than 3mins.

The nap thing might be it, when I go through my napping ritual I can LD at a very high percentage but I still have never had an LD during my regular sleep hours at night, even if I wake up in the middle of the night.

I just feel like the dream doesn't respond to arrogance. For example in a past dream I saw a bus that I wanted to drive, I get on the bus and since its a dream I think ok I am just going to throw people off the bus and tell them to get out. I throw one guy off who immediately gets back on and the people at the front of the bus are looking at me like who do you think you are telling us to get off the bus. I got caught up arguing with them telling them "this is my fucking bus" (I mean it IS my bus...) and I woke up laughing at myself because I lost my awareness in the argument.

Obviously if I don't really believe the dream will respond to arrogance then it wont, also I would never do this in real life nor do I feel like I am the type of person who can walk onto a bus and tell everyone to get off and they would do it. I feel like maybe if I asked them nicely they would get off but at the same time you should be able to do ANYTHING in these dreams so it shouldn't matter how I ask.

It also may be just in your nature to respond badly to arrogance. Everything in your dream is just an extension of yourself, if you don't like other people acting that way, and you're not the type to be that way, then your unconscious may be fighting back.

You could also be unconsciously intimidated by the dream world, and have come to the conclusion that it has more power than it does. If you believe it, then it does.

I don't think the time you LD would have anything to do with how the dream turns out (in that regard), but this is just conjecture. I'm by no means an expert.
