Why are my dreams so unrealistic?

There is something that is just so different between my dreams and reality, when I'm dreaming it's like the entire world is just being projected in front of me, not like it's actually there. I don't really feel my body either in dreams, it's like I'm playing a first person game.

I've tried taking b6 suppliments but they haven't done anything.

I few days ago I had a dream about how realistic my dreams were, and in this dream I was thinking "Wow this dream is so realistic!" I was in a library looking at the books (they just had scribbles not words now that I think about it) thinking it was all so crystal clear. But as soon as I woke up I felt no different than in the dream, like I had been lying in bed the entire dream.

Is there anything I can do to help them become more realistic? The entire dream was about how realistic it was, I went around touching things and yet it was still just like I was lying in bed with imagery playing out in front of me.

I'd say the problem is in the recall. If you remember being amazed at the realism inside the dream, then it is a problem with dream recall. In the dream you see the dream as vivid and real, yet after waking up, you remember it as dull and lifeless. Read this thread: http://www.dreamviews.com/f11/dream-...ing-up-114524/

If that's the problem, then the key is dream journaling, writing down everything you remember, focusing on recalling dreams in the morning, analyzing past journal entries, and being determined. It will come along.

Really I never thought it could be that, my dream recall is pretty poor. (I don't ever remember my dreams on week days. I can remember 1 per weekend and about 5 per week for a week off.) I can usually only remember about 5 minutes of a dream.
I find this hard to believe because I thought I remembered everything in that dream so perfectly o.o

Anyway thanks for replying I'll certainly work on my recall now.

Dreams aren't real life, vivid dreams for me are a treat, and usually when i have a vivid dream i remember it as being vivid. If you find a trick to make dreams more vivid more often, please hit me up.

Well I just had another lucid dream like that again this morning It was after a whole dream party, (there were 2 voldemorts at the party wearing casual clothes ) everybody had left and I was walking through a hall, I suddenly realised I was dreaming.(All my lucid dreams start like this, I just come to realisation that I'm dreaming for no particular reason.) and I thought the same thing "Wow this is so realistic, that guy must be right it's a recall problem!"

I looked at my left hand (reality check, just to see if I was correct in thinking that I was dreaming) and it was all weird, I had about 17 fingers, all crossing over and going through each other, but my right hand was normal. Then I closed my eyes in my dream, when I opened them again I opened them in real life too.

I closed my eyes straight away again after opening them in real life, but then I just got up anyway and started to write down my dream, but my pencil kept changing colour and breaking, and everything I wrote dissapeared and something else appeared instead. After this I woke up again (After closing my eyes I had fell asleep again.) and actually wrote it down this time after a few reality checks.

I think I am getting a lot better at lucid dreaming now That was my first false awakening and this dream felt the most realistic.

      Thumbs down

I just found out why the dream I had this morning seemed so realistic while thinking about iit It was because normally in dreams, I just pay attention to what I see and a little bit to what I hear. I never really feel, smell or taste anything in dreams. This lucid dream I actually thought about how it felt instead of how it looked and it became way more realistic, I could feel the air in the room instead of the warmth from my bed.

Of course dreams aren't real life, but it doesn't have to mean that they can't be as vivid as real life. Some years ago when my recall was really good, 90% of all my dreams whether lucid or non-lucid have had extraordinary vividness. I used to stand in some lucid dreams and not do anything except observe the environment, being completely astounded by the clarity and vividness. It was unbelieveable.

Now that my recall has suffered, the vividness is gone too, but I am working on improving it. It is getting much better.
