      still confused

I'm pretty sure I had a lucid dream last night, but how can I be sure? I've yet to have that "woah" this feels so real experience. The more I think about the lucid dream the more it feels like I wasn't really there. Maybe its a problem with my dream recall, but lucid dreams I have tend not to feel very different from non lucid dreams . I know dream recall is important, but how well can dream recall be improved? Crystal clear memory of dreams? I know I should keep a dream journal but I have trouble being consistent with my entries.

How intense was your best lucid dream? How well do you recall it?

I felt the same way about my first 3. The rest were a LOT better but about the same in quality so I can't really say much about those, the first 3 almost felt like a slideshow of blurry pictures... It just randomly got fixed after the 4th one. I wouldnt say its a recall problem, because those felt like that even in the dream.

Yeah the first couple I had were very similar. My last two have been a lot better though so I'm sure yours will get better too It might just be that you had very little dream control in these lucids. I would definitely recommend you keep a dream journal though because it will just make your recall that much better and your dreams much more vivid. If you are able to get more consistent with keeping one then the first thing you do every time you wake up is remember your dreams which is extremely valuable. I don't necessarily have crystal clear dream recall but after practicing writing down every little detail I can, my recall is quite vivid. It's definitely worth trying to improve and will definitely improve the quality of your lucids

You need to experience a good long lucid dream with great vividness. One thing I have to say, you admitted yourself you aren't consistently doing one of the most important things with lucid dreaming, so why are you expecting great results? A dream journal is extremely important, you should be keeping one at all times.

Dream recall is a big part of it, of course, but also so is dream vividness. Sometimes even when lucid the dream can still feel fake or blurry. You should learn a few techniques for increasing dream vividness so you can perform them when you have your next lucid. Basically, use as many of your senses as possible and focus on the feeling/taste/smell/etc. in the dream. Usually you can boost vividness to life-like realism in seconds and it should stay there.

My best lucid dream (in regards to vividness) is why I can say that using your senses works. I did just that, but touching and smelling a large pine tree which brought everything to life-like realism. Everything was crystal clear, and no detail was lacking. This dream I remember fully from start to end with the exception of a little bit of dialog that occurred at the end (I know what was said, just not word-for-word).

I would venture to say that the more vivid the dream, the easier it will be to recall (at least in my experience). Of course you still need to have decent recall to start with, which is one of the reasons dream journals are required (Also, they help with dream-signs and inspiration).
