Lucid Dreams Auto-Transforms into Nightmares

So I've been able to manipulate and remain conscious within my dreams when I was 13. I'm 19 now. Don't know what triggered the ability, my overflowing imagination probably. One of the things I did conscious was trying to confirm the idea that you can't turn on and off lights in dreams, and I could. I lucid dream by simply having a mindset of being conscious within dreams before sleeping. I often did it when I was 13 but I stopped when there was this moment where every-time I achieved awareness in dreams, "dark things" appeared and started talking to me. I probably "made" these "demonic" things. It also accompanies the idea that I wasn't so "free" after all. From then on, I grew less interested in doing random stuff in dreams and then stopped(within the same year). Since then, Lucid dreaming happens on occasions but this time they happen without my will, I just gain awareness randomly. And now, I'm interested in doing this stuff again. Problem is that I can't help associating consciousness with demons. If a lucid dream happened by "accident" though, I have more time before demons show up. But if I initiated lucidity by will, it's auto-demon. I guess the idea of "demons" came from being conditioned by religion and mythical stuff since childhood. My family was very superstitious back then. Also, I enter the "half-sleep" state(sleep paralysis) a lot as well. So do you have any advice to remove this demon... "idea"?
