How To Plant An Idea In Your Own Mind To Get Rid of Anxiety?

      This anxiety is destroying me.
I basically don't even go out cause I'm afraid of what people might say about my anxiety. I use to go out but now I don't because my anxiety has gotten to a point where I have constant muscle twitches, and I know why because my body is too tense at times but I don't want this!
I came across a theory, is it possible to plant an idea in your own mind to make you forget you even had anxiety? To make it go away?
If ANYONE has any suggestions on how to cure my anxiety, please leave a comment.
      I don't want this.

Breathe in as hard and fast as you can 10 times in a row, all the way in and out. Then fill your lungs 110% on the last breath and hold it for 10 seconds and look up. Please be sure to do this while seated.

Also, stand up straight, shoulders back and head up: your posture is half of what you feel. If you can save some money then invest in Personal Power by Anthony Robbins.

The type of anxiety you have will determine how to deal with it. Social anxiety? If that's the case, this isn't something you can tackle overnight. It IS something you can overcome. Some people just accept "their place" in life or who they "are" even if it makes them unhappy, which I find very sad. Few people actually even make an effort to change or improve themselves. If you choose to get over this, maybe a couple months down the line, maybe a year from now, you'll be able to look back and realize how silly it all was in the first place.

To get over social anxiety, you generally have to increase your awareness of the world as well as change your perceptions and mindset. In my experience, this kind of anxiety and fear comes from a "deluded" mindset/perception of the way the world works. You see people not as they are, but as they aren't. Talking to new people is always a "risk", getting rejected can "hurt" you, you care what others think and compromise who you are to maintain a self-image of who you think you are- which in the end actually makes you look worse than that self-image you have or any self-image you fear having.

If you have any questions on how to get over this without LDing and just living life, feel free to ask. If you don't want to post them publicly, you can PM me as well.

Just remember, when it comes to the deeper issues, there is only so much advice we can give. In the end, you are the one living your life. You must choose what you think is the best for yourself.

I wish you the best when it comes to this.

I've had 2 really bad spurts of anxiety in my life, and managed to get over them without any sort of medication.

I think the best thing you can do it just GET OUT THERE.
I know it sucks and you feel bad, but usually once you get outside or get to work and start doing something...you'll forget about whatever you are worrying about.

well. I would agree with coder. Meditation and breathing are good for overcoming your anxiety. Don't try and distract yourself with another thought or something else. It won't make the anxiety go away. It will just make you less aware of it. I would recommend about an hour of meditation daily and that will help you lots. Although it may be very hard at first. Its well worth it. Just do it. Make time for it. Do it when nobody will disturb you. You will be fine. Just know it will pass. and don't worry. Everything will be fine.

trying to force yourself through anxiety is a bad idea. I tried that for years and I'm worse off because of it.

I had social anxiety that prevented from eating lunch at school so I starved. The disorder prevented me from stating even a single sentence to other people and it also gave me nervous breakdowns. I then was forced to join Drama class, then I forced myself bit by bit each day. It worked, I'm now the most talkative person in class. Exercise could help.

I used to have anxiety aswell, I had anxiety since i was young (started at 4-5 years of age). I haven't had any anxiety attacks for about.. maybe 8 months or more. I started getting angry at anxiety.
What helped for me was meditation. Also, when I had a panic attack, i would do controlled breathing and just remember that it's just a state of mind and will go away. Remember: it WILL go away. If you can help it, don't be afraid of it. If getting angry at it gives you strength, get angry at it. Just don't be afraid of it (I understand when you have a panic attack, everything is fking scary.. but try and get in that state of mind)

A lot of people use lucid dreaming as self-help. However, I think you are going about it wrong. You are talking about the inception of an idea within your dream, which you can't do. You can however have loads of sex, loads of fun, and do whatever you want. You can use this as a stress relief. The more stress you relieve doing fun activities, the less you'll have in real life.

Cool. And I hope you find your anxiety was simply caused by not breathing deep and enough and that you can go out with lots of oxygen / confidence.
