Turning off the air conditioning- will it make my dreams more or less vivid

My air conditioning makes some noise. Not a lot of noise, but some. I've heard that having some kind of extra noise or light on while you sleep can cause your dreams to become more vivid. I've also heard that if you're used to something in your environment and you change it, that change can also make your dreams more vivid.

I want to make my dreams less vivid. I'm wondering if turning my air conditioning off will do the trick. On the one hand, having less noise in my surroundings might make my dreams less vivid. On the other hand, getting rid of the air conditioning that I've had on for the past week is changing something about my environment that I may or may not be used to. This could possibly make my dreams more vivid.

What do you guys think? Will turning the air conditioning off make my dreams more or less vivid?

It will only make an effect if you think it will, and if you don't mind me asking why would you ever want less vivid dreams?

Let me start off by saying I don't believe that having it on will increase or decrease the vividness of your dreams. If it's disturbing you throughout the night and waking you up it may altar your ability to have lengthy dreams or become lucid at all. You can try turning it off and see how well you do without it, experiment and record your results. If you find you have less vivid dreams with it off then stick with it, if not turn it back on. Good luck.

It is worth a try. Worst case scenario, you save money on your electricity bill

Usually if you believe that it will work, it will work.
Why would you want less vivid dreams? Are they nightmares or something?

I heard somewhere that temperature can affect your dream causing either a nightmare or happy dream. It could be total bull spit, but that's just what I heard someone say. Dont take my word though. And yes, like Robot_Butler said, it will save you some money turning it off. So that's a plus
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

I think it's whatever you're more convinced of. You may more chilly dreams or 'air static-y' stuff perhaps, but placebo more than anything.

I think cooler temperatures make it easier to dream.

Cooler temperatures have been proven to give people longer deeper sleep. Ergo, dreams would have a tendency to be more vivid. Simple math. However, if you find the A/C noise irritating this could certainly negate any positive effects of a cooler room. Pick your poison.
