Its possible to WILD without sleeping previously, but the likelihood is greatly increased with at least 3-4 hours of sleep before hand so you can wake up while still in a REM cycle.
As you haven't slept you will probably be hitting REM rebound which will mean you spend longer periods of time in REM that you normally do. But again, for the WILD to have a greater chance of working, attempt it after 3-4 hours of sleep, anything all the way up to 6 hours is usually cool.
