My motivation is just how cool lucid dreaming is. It's something that the new generation has forgotten, something so amazing that I feel so sad that we forgot it. It gives me a real boost that I am practicing something that a lot of people don't practice, I feel so great that I do it, like I am doing something right. The other thing is that it is a completely new world, with so many places that are so much different and so much cooler than the real world ( not saying reality sucks ). But it's just so cool that a completely new world lies within your own mind. A really cool thing is that we can actually use our full brain when we lucid dream; since it has been told that we only use 10% of our brain while awake. It's so cool also because we can use it to better our own lives, we can let our creativity just run wild, create things not possible in real life. The last thin that motivates me is that it is so dang fun, I just love being so free and doing whatever I want without anyone judging me or watching me. It just feels so free and amazing.

Hopefully that is a good answer for you. Have fun lucid dreaming!

I don't think most of any generation knew or knows about it.

Being able to explore my dream world is one of the most amazing things. It's a place that no one else has been that I'm only starting to really see. It's a world where physics has no meaning. Where limitations are only what you set on yourself. It's a place where I can try things that may not be possible in the real world. I don't understand how anyone would not want to do this. There are so many reasons, and so many possibilities. I'm sure as I progress, my intentions and motivations will progress as well. Right now its more of an exploratory phase. As well as finding the most efficient way to travel there.

I find that my friends here on the site motivate me the most. Posting, reading people's experiences, and talking to other people definitely give me more motivation.
