How to go to sleep when your not tired?

I'm trying to reset my schedule so I can wake up earlier because I've gotten of from summer. Does anyone know how I can go to bed when I'm not tired. Maybe an hour before my actual sleeping time.

      this is a difficult one...
try a warm milky drink...or some relaxing music to make you feel calm.
sit in a dim room...i find that helps me...lower light levels automatically make me sleep better...although i have a 40 watt night light, for writing dreams down when i wake up in the night, which doesn't happen as often as it used to, but it's very comforting.

Let your body get used to the routine.....when I was 3, I used to stay up until 1AM & sleep only until 9AM, so it took my body a year to adjust & even after that, I can never fall asleep b4 10 PM.

Try taking a warm bath before you get into bed.. it will relax you (unless you hate baths).

Having a warm bath an hour before bed rises the body temperature, when you get out the bath you body temperature falls. This natural fall of your body temperature is clinically proven to help you fall asleep. I attended a class where a guest speaker spoke about sleep disoders so its good reliable info.

Well, on that note, there are three main methods I use:

      Method #1 (a.k.a. Need Sleep)
You lay in a comfortable position, and imagine a scene, or several, in your mind, like a little movie. You concentrate on the details of the scene or scenes, that all your energy is in your brain and not your body, therefore, before you know it, you will be asleep.

Method #2 (a.k.a. Need Sleep Bad)
You fantasize about turn-ons and, ahem, wear yourself out.

      Method #3 (a.k.a. It's 5am and I have an exam at 7am)
Hold your breath until you can't hold it anymore. Then breathe a little, then hold it again until you can't hold it anymore. Each time you breathe, breathe more and more slowly. This will slow everything down and get you to sleep FAST.

Taking some Benadryl (diphenhydramine) might help out too. It tends to make me pretty drowsy but make sure you have a full night's sleep available or you may feel a bit groggy in the morning. Just try not to use it too often because you will build a tolerance to it, though its not addictive.

For a remedy that requires no pills or thrills:

You must force yourself to get up earlier in the morning - your body will be asking for those "missed hours of sleep" once bedtime comes along (just don't give into the urge to take a nap during the day! ) I know, getting up can be really tough in the morning - but affecting your wake-up time will in turn effect your bedtime - It's one big happy cycle!

I dont suggest taking pills. I have the same problem.
I would suggest to go earlier to bed by 30 mins each night. Dont try to sleep 3 hours earlier in one night.
Also, when you are in bed sleep, try for some minutes, with the lights off, not to move. Dont move and let your mind wander. You might sleep before you know it

Fap? The only reference I could find to this involved colon cancer. Please tell me you mean something else.

This method makes alot of sense but it doesn't work for me. I have the belief that getting up at 7:00 am on a monday morning after falling asleep at 1 or 2 will make it nice and easy to go to sleep monday night. On the contrary I end up suffering throughout monday only to start perking up around 10 or 11 when I'd like to be asleep. I end up staying up late and killing myself on tuesday, This evil energy draining cycle will devour me during the week unless I find time for an afternoon nap. And even then I spend my weekend in bed to finally catch up to what my body needs.

I've had trouble getting to bed when I want for a while now. Luckily its summer. I don't know if this is just part of being a teenager or if I drink to much coffee or what.
