Lost my ability to become lucid.

I've recently had no success in getting lucid and I don't know why.

About 2 months ago I was having an average of 2 lucid dreams a week. Most of the time these dreams were very vivid and I had quite a good level of control. However in the last 3-4 weeks I have experienced no lucidity what so ever. For about a week and a half I couldn't recall a single dream but thankfully I'm back to having one or two reasonably vivid dreams a night but I am still unable to become lucid.
Normally I read through my dream journal a few times a week for inspiration and I will stick in pictures of things I want to dream about and I will visualize myself getting lucid. I normally do reality checks quite a few times a day. I try to meditate but most of the time I forget. So there is no real difference in my methods.
The only thing I can think of is I've done very little in the last 4 months. Due to health issues I have been declared unfit for work so I haven't been engaged in anything. Even though when I was back in college I was more busier and had more on my mind it provided me with more opportunities to observe my external world. Sat here I'm experiencing the same thing every day. Should I try more than simply reality checks? Are there any other methods people think are more appropriate right now? Does anyone else find that when they have lots of time away from work/college/school it actually hinders their ability to become lucid?
      Thanks everyone.

Hi there, I'm sorry to hear about your recall and lucidity problems. Personally, my ability to lucid dream sorta decreases when I have a sudden change in routine. That might be what's happening to you too. I see you've had a recent change in lifestyle, that could greatly affect your recall and frequency of LDs. Have you been trying induction techniques until now? If yes, I suggest taking a break for a bit, maybe a few days to relax and let your mind and body sort itself out. you could also try supplements, if you're into that. I personally drink some apple juice and eat some bananas before bed when my recall gets a bit crappy haha. Luckily, it always helps me.

      Good luck, you'll get there!

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.

I've been trying B6 vitamin supplements for a while. I find that helps with vividness of dreams but I still can't get lucid. As I said all I really do are reality checks and maybe that's not enough especially when all I seem to do these days is stay in my house and I'm not seeing anything new. Perhaps I need to do things to keep my brain more stimulated in the day but as things are a little rough at the moment it's hard to really stick with anything.

Hmm yeah you should definitely stick with reality checks as well. Just make sure to put meaning and thought behind it. I also suggest practicing awareness, as it greatly helps with being in the lucid mindset, which ultimately leads to lucidity. I suppose it would work well for people who stay indoors too because you have more time to really notice and focus on your surroundings.

Just an update. Finally managed to get lucid again last night. It was rather short lived and my awareness kept fading but I haven't been lucid in so long I think I just forgot what to do. Either way it's something and hopefully I'll get back into having 2-3 a week. Thanks again for the advice.

Wow, that's great! Congratulations If you want, you can make a personal list of things you want to do while lucid, and read it over every now and then. It really helps boost you in the lucid mindset, as well as give you something to do the moment you get lucid.

      Keep it up!
