      Getting Closer!

I started taking naps today and I believe I got really close to a LD during my WILD. I started to see some simple HI. Orange blobs would appear fairly frequently then fade out. After a few minutes of this I got impatient and stopped. At this point if I just wait longer will more complex HI indicating that I'm near the dream phase form?

It sounded like you got really close, you just can't be impatient when those things happen. When you start seeing those things, start thinking about an image and that should speed things up.
WILD's can be really hard to do sometimes. Many times when I tried it I have failed and just feel asleep. Most of my success came from napping and waking up and going back to sleep. You
just have to keep practicing. Have you tried other techniques? It would also help if you kept a dream journal too. Hope this helps.
Lucid dreaming takes three things: Patience, practice, and perseverance.

Those are the first HH you see, you need to chill out and relax, don't pay much attention and allow yourself to slip into the dream!

I tried again, waited at least twice as long. Still nothing. I just kept repeatedly thinking: "I'm dreaming." In a hour or so I'll do what you suggested Pepsi and think about certain images. I'm also not that relaxed when I did this, first or second time. Thanks Pepsi and Arch!

There's your problem. You shouldn't be thinking anything, let alone actually saying words in your head. WILD is impossible when you do this.

Ah... Alright, thanks for the help! So should I just think about a image or a dream scene?

That might work, it depends on how much you try to concentrate. Anything that strains your conscious mind is bad for WILDing. Really you just have to let the images flow without trying to control or analyze them.

But I think we've hit the limit of what can be explained in words. At some point, you just need to get a ton of practice.

If you have images flowing then you're in the right state. I agree that you should not try and control the images but I would always try to analyze them and build on them, make the images more vivid. I would concentrate really hard and I'd do it again and again no matter how many times the images dissipated. For me when the image is defined enough I'd look up or move through or just look around and then I'd be in a lucid dream. The things to focus on are up to you - working with whatever pops up is always good. I used to work lots with images of books and bookshelves or pages in a book - I could then focus on trying to read the words on the pages or on the spines of the books bringing more definition to the image. Dream scenes from previous dreams are also excellent to use.
