Haven't posted anything in a while so I decided I'd just talk about something that's interesting to me.

I've noticed that the dreams I enjoy the most are not necessarily those that are the most vivid (although there is a correlation) but rather the ones that have the most emotion in them. The fact that we can feel such powerful emotions from our own imagination is just baffling to me.

I always like to think that dreams give ourselves the best representation of how we would react in a situation. Everyone likes to think that if a building was on fire they would rush in and look for survivors. However, in dreams, like in real life, you are actually crippled with fear. Some of my scariest nightmares are the most profound moments in my life because they are the most realistic portrayals of myself in the life or death situations I will probably never experience.

Obviously, nightmares and sex dreams are among the most emotionally involved dreams, but not always. A few nights ago I had two very emotional dreams. The first took place inside a large building collapsing on hundreds of people. The second was of the sinking of the Titanic from a third person observer perspective. They weren't nightmares nor were they sad. In fact I might even describe them as euphoric. There was something incredibly romantic about them, a beauty in destruction feeling. Impossible to describe. I woke up as if I'd been shown the most moving piece of art I'd ever seen.

Anyway, discuss.
