I can't do the one thing I want to do most while I'm lucid.

I've had roughly twenty or so lucid dreams after getting really into it a few months ago. Lately I've been doing a lot of WILDs and the one thing that I want to do is surf perfect waves. The problem is that every time I go to the beach in my dream, the ocean is either really blown out or the waves are near flat. Why is this?

I know that I can't control everything that happens while I'm lucid, and I'd prefer to have my subconcious manifest itself as much as possible, but damn it, I want to surf. I've gotten better at making my dreams more vivid (really focusing on my hands and then looking back up), staying lucid (the spinning technique), and even making some insane things happen. For instance, the universe imploded on itself and later the ocean formed a gigantic whirlpool after I said "show me something AMAZING!"

Lucid dreaming has given me some amazing moments these past few months. I've woken up and the thought of some of these dreams has nearly brought me to tears. I've also realized that I'm not sexually attracted to my ex girlfriend anymore after seeing her in a dream. She wanted to sleep with me and I was like "lulz... fuck that shit, I'm going flying. Later." So basically, I want my subconcious to do it's thing like it's been doing but I really want to surf. Why are the waves so bad every time and how do I change that?

Tell yourself that its YOUR dream and YOU can do whatever you want. Verbally command yourself to create waves. Verbally command yourself to make a surfboard and go on the wave and ride it.

Yeah, that's good advice. It sounds so simple in principle, but I guess it's easier said than done, especially when the dream seems so real. Last night as I entered the dream world from a WILD a strange man with long, scraggly hair and a black trench coat was knocking on my door. I opened the door, told him to piss off, and walked right by him because I knew it was a dream. The thing is... even when I'm lucid, I still have doubts about wether certain things will work. For instance, the finger through the hand reality check never works for me even when I know I'm dreaming for some reason. It's very strange.

Well you have to be rid of all doubts. Doubts are one of the worst things you can have.

I know what the OP means.

Sometimes I've really wanted to do things and it seems like the very drive and excitement that makes me want to do this in the dream seems to stop me. Keeping calm, focusing, and using suggestive control (such as telling yourself "this is where I put my surfboard, right behind me", then turning around-- this type of control works for me easily) is your best bet. Just keep trying.
