      WILD Nightmare

Last night I went to bed as usual and had an alarm wake me up for WBTB. I tried to WILD for about half an hour but was unsuccessful, and I ended up falling asleep instead. I have yet to WILD so I usually try to aim for DILD afterward. I fell asleep and dreamt for a while, nothing too interesting. Then I had a false awakening, or at least I woke up in my dream and recalled that I had been dreaming before. So in my dream I decided to DEILD, because I read that it was kind of like WILD, but faster.
As soon as I closed my eyes, lights began flickering behind them and my body was vibrating intensely. I heard this incredibly loud and terrifying noise like a train was bearing down on me. But I told myself it was the WILD experience and it would be over soon. But all of a sudden, the sensations ended. I thought maybe I had accidentally snapped myself out of it. Then the feelings began to repeat themselves. They would stop and I would try to open my eyes and start dreaming, but they would just start again. The noise was so loud and terrifying and my entire body was vibrating so hard I felt like I was falling apart. And I was trapped in the dream!
All of a sudden I woke with a start, in my own bed. Still afraid, I called for my parents, but when they showed up they looked strange...
Then I woke with a start AGAIN, breathing hard and in a cold sweat. I frantically did some reality checks and affirmed that I was actually, truly awake.
I want to lucid dream, and I want to be able to do so without worry. I know thinking about nightmares is the biggest thing that will cause them, but if I try to LD again I know it'll be on my mind. And I really don't want to go through that experience again. Especially since it could happen every night...! Should I take a break from LD? Should I try again?

Keep doing what you're doing. You'll learn how to break the pattern one way or another.
When I first started lucid dreaming I had many WILD nightmares where I couldn't move from my bed.
Now I have a lot of WILDs but I don't get stuck in my bed anymore. It just takes time and practice. Keep going.
