I remember when I first mentioned that I was a member of this website to my parents. The first thing my Dad said was something along the lines of thinking that drugs were involved. I responded by vehemently telling him that's not at all the case and asked him why he would think that? He said he was just kidding, though I doubt he really was. He just didn't know anything about it and once I told him he understood better, though I don't think he is really excited about it or anything. Its kind of interesting growing up and being able to see where I start to move ahead in a way, of my parents, though I still have a great deal of things to learn.

They have been (ap)proved by science. [/b]
Who has aproved and what science are you dreaming? We try and study it and have our opinions. But the science, expecially the current approach and idea of 'science', it is full of holes.

Even in 100 years by now the parents will react likely.
It not \"the new generation\" that accepts and comprehends LDs.[/b]
In 100 years if you are still alive, much will be changing. Parents will react differently.

lding is a introverted ( were you focus inward) task and you can start thinking negative as a result.

Also you can become exhausted, mentally drained and overwhelmed.

i wont say anymore, just search for the word introverted.

My parents are actually very cool about it, I always tell em about my LDs but they're not into it.

Funny thing though, after I talked with my dad about it, a couple of days later he came and told me that he had remembered it in a dream and then he had a lucid and starting playing around summoning stuff, lol they're still not into it at all, but almost every friend I talk to it about seem very interested, specially cuz i tell em about my experiences and they get all excited, lol

I say just tell it to everyone you know, its who you are anyway, if they dont like it, its totally cool, cuz its just you

Nobody should get upset when others don't believe you or think lucid dreaming is bad, we're all caught in a paradigm shift and many people will be left behind and never accept the new ideas (either because they don't understand it or they don't want to believe it).
Usually the transformation is complete when all who opposes the new idea are gone. Only when the topic of lucid dreaming is taken seriously by our society today may we begin to see the end of this shift.

I'm not worried about what people think about lucid dreaming. It does not anger me or make me feel like I need to convince them. They are more likely to bore me.

err... that made it sound like lucid dreaming is a cult.

anyway you probably have made ajustments to your sleep scedual and your mom is always going to be the first to know about anything you do differently (ie... reading your journal often, sleeping more, getting up at night to WILD) and its only natural that she would want you to be happy, but, her idea of happiness varies from yours (obviously) and she probably cant see why you dont want to be like other people your age and get what she accepts as happiness.

theres really no reason to call her an idiot just because she thinks shes trying to help you.

yeah, parents don't like their children getting obsessed with dreaming.

If I may give a mother's point of view here. IMO, I think maybe your mom just wants you not to be stuck inside. Nowadays, there really isn't "normal" to do. I would love to teach my kids to LD. My daughter doesn't think she has the time and ironically thinks "I" am weird for doing it.

I'v been trying to teach my son to LD so that he won't be so overwhelmed with his nightmares.

Not all parents see things the same way. Give them a break.
