      A question about consistency

      Hi All,

I started really practicing lucid dreaming about a month ago but in the last 4-5 days life (Finals) has really gotten in the way of my sleeping schedule and lucid dreaming. How much do periods of sleeplessness or wavering attention effect your overall ability and interest in lucid dreaming? What are some things I can do to help stay interested and practiced in LDing even thought I don't have a lot of time to devote to RCs or sleeping?

      Thanks!

      Blandge

Remember how happy and excited you felt when you had your previous ld's, that should help motivate you to carry on practicing RC's.

However, if your not prepared to put effort in and get a good night's sleep then it is unlikely you will ever have consistence ld's.

Edit: I'm acting as if I'm an experienced lder here, but it's just what I've seen experienced lders say

I guess this is true. No sleep = no dreams.

I suppose keeping up with RCs and enthusiasm is the best hold-over until I can get back into a consistent sleep schedule.

Not enough time is definitely a problem. However doing RCs doesn't take so much time.
Most lucid dreams (and the total majority of the good ones IMO) occur in last 2 hours of sleep. If you cut them, you won't be successful. You need to find days when you can sleep longer. Practice WBTB on these days. You can use the time you are awake between sleeping to accomplish some of your duties.
If you are busy and interested in LDs, consider adopting polyphasic sleep. It depends on you schedule. With uberman (6x 20 min naps a day every 4 hours) you can get about 5 more waking hours and you chances for LDs can be very elevated.

If time is something you don't have to dedicate to a skill or hobby right now, I'd probably just say best put it on hold for now until you have time. Lucid dreaming will always be there for you to return to - it has no fees or any equipment you need, just your own dedication. Like every other skill/hobby (baseball, martial arts, drawing, etc) lucid dreaming requires that dedication and consistency to get good at if you expect regular and long-term results.
